Dissapointing to see okes cheating

And these are the same guys who would have slated Lance and every other doper. Without realizing that their actions are just as bad.

I am sorry? Just as bad? Are you comparing these people to the greatest cheat the world of sport has ever seen? Lance lied for years, denying every accusation thrown at him without so much as a twitch. Now these people are being crucified for taking a shortcut? Their times will probably be checked out, and maybe they didn't cross the mat, we won't know. But please sir, retract your statement. I don't condone what these people did in the least, they are the ones that'll have to live with their cheating. But comparing them to any of the huge dopers is comparing a children's fun run and the Boston marathon..

Cheating is cheating. Does not matter if like Lance you do it for years or just taking a shortcut doing the middle distance race on Saturday.

They are cut from the same cloth.

Perhaps these guys cheat every time and have been going home to their kids with their medals for years too. From the kid's perspective who would they feel most let down by? I agree with you, cheating is cheating, these clowns are roosters.

I retract nothing, sir.

These kind of people are just as bad as the big bad lance. Doesn't matter why type of cheating or for how long you do it, cheating is cheating. Every cyclists who's tested positive should hae has the same punishment as lance, as should these course cutting douchebags.

My attempt was merely to point out the level of what you've just proven - it's different, so it's not bad. That's what these guys will tell themselves, while they lambaste lance at the coffee shop after a ride with their mates.

I think route designers also need to put up their hands. If you cannot mark a proper 50 km route in a particular area, keep it down to 40km. There is nothing more debilitating than riding a zigzag route just to make up distance.

Ok, I confess. I took a few shortcuts at the USN Heia event last year. But my chain broke with 10km to go, didn't have an extra link, and definitely wasn't going to walk the entire 10k back with all the singletrack through the forest. And yes, I did tell the timekeepers to DNF me...

Well that's not cheating ;)

LA and the others are criminals who profited from their fraud; this is very different to a casual cheat. There may be a similar root, but we dont know that these fun-riders have allowed it to get to the outlandish proportions of the dopers.

Dude - that's more common sense than any sort of cheating. Lol imagine walking backwards and forwards through the woods, seeing the end though the trees but not heading for it . . Doh!

It's also not too difficult to spot some of these cheaters... Just have a peak at the results... A certain rider from C batch (50km) came in at position 25 - flippen good or .... Well, looking at his sas index it's 47. He has done 4 races in 2014 and none very good times - so his index is probably very much representative of his fitness level & skils. So, I cannot see how he upped his game so much to finish 25th.

If you did mate, well done & sorry for calling you a cheat.

Sometimes Race timers make mistakes too. A friend of mine did the short Berge n Dale last year in 3h30, very slow rider, but Racetec logged it as the 100km one, because it was a reasonable time for the 100km their mistake was not picked up. This happened to my dads wife too last year where they rode a shorter MTB race and got logged as the longer race, they definitely did not cheat but it could look like it.

Think there were mistakes like this made at almost every race.

Sure, I hear you. The 4 races he did in 2014 was all marathon distances. But I'll concede that yes time keepers might also get it wrong ;)
