Yeah. Ultra budget medals.

And not even being handed to you. You had to walk over to a table on the side to collect. I was too tired and just want to get out of the sun.

Sun was harsh :-o

One of the best things I've seen was at the 94.7 MTB race last year. One of the sun screen companies was a sponsor and they were spraying everyone on the start line with sun block. I thought that was first class.

I know exactly what you mean... I did race #6 last year, started in right at the front of the B batch, not a single person came past me anywhere.

Checked results and I came 2nd in the batch, compained and it fell of deaf ears.

If okes have to cheat to beat, they are general losers in all aspects of life.

At least I have a clear conscience that I dont cheat.

Cheaters are losers, end of story

Happened I am sure in the Berg 'N Dal to . I started in EL, get Into cradle suddenly out of now where you see IL riders (who are battling to pedal) in front of you? Suspicious I think rather! Just cheating themselves! No one else. All races should have mats throughout race to catch the buggers out.

I was in FL and spotted a load of IL riders ahead when I'd been riding pretty hard. No way they passed me. They must have taken the 55 split?

I also passed quite a few Cl, DL and EL riders. Either they were having a bad day (quite possible, we've all been there) or they crooked previous races to get better seeding and were coming unstuck?

So if I have a D seeding and decide to ride with my wife who is a P seeding I am cheating? This time if the year many riders with good seedings ride with friends or family who are training for CTCT.

Saw a rider skipping the fruit factory packing section in Herald MTB race on Saturday. Might have had a valid reason, who knows.

Yip I did the 30 km and a whole bunch skipped that section. Another rider shouted to them they looked at him but just carried on. It was also clearly marked

If the people I saw were riding along with family I'd have said so. They were riding alone, and struggling. Hence the "bad day" comment.

But you are right, it is wrong to suggest that people are cheating without knowing all the facts. Given the possibility that all possibilities are possible, I should also consider that they started with family but then had a fight with said family over some or other family issue and were now riding alone in a sulk (entirely possible) or that all of them suffered punctures in the first 10 km of the race and decided to turn it into a training ride because it took so long to fix the puncture / change the tube. Again quite possible. Way way way down the list is the option that they are trying to get a good seeding cos they are riding in the Argus . . . .

I remember when I started out 8 or 9 years ago. I trained hard for about 5 months before doing my first event. I was intimidated by the big bunches etc. So I started at the back like everyone else had to at some stage. I rode sub 4 races out of Z and got confronted by a PPA official about my times after being 'reported' After sending my Polar files etc they merely accepted my explanation. No apology for implying that I cheated was made. I felt that they could have re-seeded me quicker to avoid thus type of unpleasantness. I almost quit road riding because people were making assumptions about how I achieved my times.

Happened at serengeti yesterday as well. In fact the first 4 tandems across the line where DQ'd after they recorded a time of 2h 16m for the "112km" works out to an average speed of 47kph. Tony Martin watch out!!!! But there where big mess ups in  many groups yesterday. But it was clearly marked and clearly announced at the start.

Iv asked before about timing mats but they say because of cars on the roads unless its full road closure its not going to happen.

Rubbish excuse that! I have seen Racetec put timing mats out near or at the turning point on some of the long rides. They simply put it on the wide shoulder and direct cyclists over it with orange traffic cones. They do the same thing at the finish of many smaller races!
