I built the bike for the exact reason the TB would be the stage race machine but I didn't expect the major sacrifice on the DH.

I think it's down to set up. My TB has a 120mm Reba and 740mm bars. It certainly doesn't feel twitchy and compromised on DH's. My other bike is an Intense Tracer, so I have a real trail weapon to compare it against. But anyway having said that, I would still like a Pyga as well. :D

this bike )after he destroy the strava segment he had just completed.....

....next step Pyga carbon wheels

Great post!

I am not a fan of carbon wheels - they dont like dings, meaning higher pressure required (a frien was told by the shop that the minimum is 2.4 bar), which would compromise handling.

Havent ridden the 110, but I rode the 650 PYGA, whatever that's called. Not the Pascoe, the orange one. Wasn't bad, but didn't blow me away either.

But my TB still takes the cake, and would be the bike I choose if I was only allowed to have one.

I guess it comes down to personal preference, and like the OP stated, sometimes your dream bike doesn't quite ride like it did in your dreams.

If you're running normal wider (2.35 / 2.5 etc) tires, then there's no reason to run them so high. Running them at 20 - 25PSI (weight dependent, obviously) would not in any way endanger the rim. And if it did, it's also very likely to have damaged an alu rim as well...

You absolutely right. I have carbon rims on my Epic and Stumpjumper, run them at 1,5 bar. Those Rovals can take a beating.

When I went from an anthem to a TB descents felt twitchy ,but it is exactly that nimbleness that you gain once in single tract .Both great bikes .My SC Highball climbs markedly better than the TB but on a flat rutted section there is no comparison to a descent FSB like TB,anthem ,pyga .There is no perfect bike out there !

You are right. Both fill the same cycling need at both ends of that need's spectrum.

The OP and I are looking for different things from a trail bike with xc capability or even (in my case) a marathon bike with a bit of trail thrown in.

And the opposite also applies, when you don't expect much from a bike and delivers ear to ear laughter. Hence why testing a bike and not always believing the hype or lack there of is so important. Most of us have different wants and needs from our steeds albeit even just slightly.

Early August the last I heard

You did the exact review i was searching for 110 v TBc.

Have you compared uphill Strava segment times on each bike when you are giving it full gas?

Any idea of the weight of each bike?

Thanks

Does anyone know when the new ninetyfive29 stage frame will be available. I know it's prototype phase?

Not too long now ;) .....

You won't have to service your pivots regularly on the PYGA
