Perhaps you are as fast as you'll ever get . . . . .

Gains can not be infinite . . . . otherwise Eddy Merckx  would still win the tour . ..

Great food for thought, when would you know that you have reached your maximum performance???

My experience has been that you have good days and bad days, trying to figure out which is key. On the days I am feeling flat I try and get some slow, distance rides in as opposed to hammering it and killing myself.

Also do some intervals, even if it just hitting known Strava segments at a local trail.

Crest the hill powerfully and train to maintain your pedal force way after the climb

And not chill, recover as much after cresting.

Lose some weight too - it'll boost your climbing efforts and hence the avg speed

Simple trick I saw on youtube was to concentrate on areas where you are braking. I.e. Are you braking in a corner or turn where maybe with improved skill you won't have to brake. The result of this through 1 single turn/corner might be negligible but over the course of a 4/5 hour ride, you could save yourself a couple minutes without evening working on your fitness.

Sorry  :whistling:

Best advice I can give is to lose weight...

Sorry was MTB specific...should have added that

Ride alternate lines, don't just follow everyone else's line. Often the most popular line ends up being the bumpiest especially where people brake before corners and down hills but the majority of riders will still use that line...try keep a little left or right where it is often smoother and faster.

I find sucking the rear wheel of faster riders helps get the average speed up  :whistling:  - a little humour and by no means sarcastic.

Besides that smart-a$$ comment, I can't really say much more than what has already been said. Maybe do some power training (watt bike) it's working for me.

edit: oops - first line is a joke, and not sarcastic in anyway.
