whats the point of "off-topic" threads if not to encourage aimless banter?  Hubbers seem to enjoy it, and for the most part participate with light-hearted humour and self deprecation.  Its fun.  Those that derail and try to impose other agendas can easily be dealt with, absent pouring Jik all over the place, surely?

Also, does not naming a forum "Rant & Rave" create a slippery slope that very likely can end up in these so-called "highly objectionable" exchanges?  Its like throwing a keg of beer into a first year university dorm and then trying to run around and stop them from getting drunk. And then chucking them out when they DO get drunk - a bit self-fulfilling in a way, no?

Edit - I'm not starting this debate all over again, I stated my case and all we tried to do in reasoning with the seller before posting this thread, the matter will never be resolved, that water is under the bridge. So no updates coming soon. Sorry guys.

All the evidence still with me and I did send it to a hubber that can verify what was said. But mods will never let that be posted here again and it will be deleted or any thread will be deleted regarding that story.

This....#SMH

We should have a T&C that we all sign up for that if you use this platform to pedal your goods then you accept that the community you are targeting will scrutinize your deals and discuss them in an open forum.

What is happening is going to turn the classifieds into the new "gumtree".

In the forums under events, there is a thread about a 3 day stage race in the Freestate. I asked a legitimate question regarding the organizer. No trolling, no baiting nothing inflammatory. My post and the organizer's response got removed. Was not informed by a moderator that I transgressed any rules, post just got removed. Moderators please explain.

I have zero idea if any threads or my posts have been removed and I'm quite happy that way.

If you notice your posts being removed and feel some kind of injustice has been served then it's time to put down the keyboard, step away from the laptop and go for a ride.

See thehub for what it is - a place to get and give advice, banter a bit, find out when races are on, sell/buy some stuff and hang out with like minded people.

Don't confuse it with real life...

Hi Sniffie,

That doesn't sound right. Could you please send me a link to the thread?

hey barhugger, one of these days you too will be one of us BLACK SHEEP,, please limit your posts to essentials only, its for your own good

Time lapse between 9:06 and 9:28 for this thread...........maybe 9:33 also. That is lost time never to be regained. This means banter is lost time, and lost time is being not productive, which leads to a drop in revenue........because time is money.

Replies to posts should be made quick, concise, to the point, and with the minimal distractions. It should address the issue at hand (not the rumour) and should definitely not be directed to the person or the manner in which he made his comments. Banter should be left for the trails and after office hours.

Edit: spelling and grammar

Who moderates the moderators?  And this is not a tongue-in-cheek question.   Should there not be a 360 degree type review system to root out biased or over aggressive moderating?  DISPLICK'S point above come to mind here.  Just because someone has been appointed as a mod does not mean they are blameless or perfect.

Sometimes I don't agree with the moderators but I would take imperfect moderating over no moderating every day of the week - go try and make sense of the comment section on news24 or iol if you want to know how bad things can get.

Like Eldron said much more eloquently - this is not real life so don't take it so seriously.  ^_^

I used to have the unpleasant task of moderating on IOL. To borrow from Gandhi: "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its news site comments are treated."

Moderated here too. Not quite as unpleasant, but those who are moderated tend to be whinier.

My post count has actually gone down in the last week or so

Not long now and I will be under 5000 posts

Wait until the site gets cleaned up a bit from very old posts......

I lost around 3000 posts.  ;)
