have been running on 8bar so don't think the pressure is a problem.

Own weight currently at 103kg .

There is a problem right there. At 103kg, 8bar is too soft.

Hey Vivek B

Welcome! The best move I ever made was switching to Gatorskins (wish I knew about them much earlier), they are not overly heavy so do not let that worry you. When you do decide to race seriously then it is something you can look at, the GP 4000s or something lighter.

Good Luck

P.S Gatorskins can be expensive but most places often have them on some sort of sale so look around.

Just bought mine here:

Great service, great price.

As others have said, drop the tyre lines and buy a pair of 25mm Conti Gatorskins or GP4000s which will give you a more comfortable and puncture resistant ride.

Tip: get the foldable type rather than wire bead if budget allows.

Tire liners are a waste and actually give you more snakebite punctures. The good old Continental Gatorskins are bulletproof everyday tires. I'm on the GP4000's and they also just keep going.

Also a good hint is to keep the right pressure in your tires (min 100 psi).

This!

Gatroskins and 100-110psi and you should get a lot less punctures.

Just remember if you use a 25mm tyre you don't need a higher pressure compair to a 23mm.

A 25mm has more material so it rely on air pressure as much.

Think sportsworld has the best prices on gatorskins.

Do yourself a favour - if in Cape Town, buy from the cheapest there. If you're in Jhb, like me, be a douche and find the cheapest online price, you should be abletonfind gators for around 450 each. Go to Cyclelab and they'll match online pricing and give you a discount on it to beat it.

Save yourself some cash.
