I have a new pair of Specialised Pro carbon shoes with seem pretty tight. Do they ever soften up or is there a way to stretch them out a little I the toe box area ?

Those are pretty nice shoes. I'd suggest breaking a few bones in your feet to tighten 'em.

...seriously though, I also had the same issue (different brand). The only fix was a new pair of shoes  <_<

Easy easy

Take sandwich bags half fill them with water seal with a knot put about 4/5 bags per shoe, shove a sock as a stopper/plug in the back, leave them overnight in the freezer so the water ices up swells, and gently stretching your shoes, put your shoes outside, try them on if needed repeat,,,,,,, most comfortable shoes evaaaaa over night

Done that with my specialized worked perfect I got broad feet

This man is clever!!

That's such a common sense awesome method, going to remember this one, suppose logically you only pack the toe box/front part of the shoe with water bags and then bung a sock half way up the shoe to keep the bags lodged there when the water is still liquid?

I have a pair of DMT's carbon which were just on the small side. I took out the inners and replaced it with leather ones cut to the same shape and thinner. The difference in thickness of the leather, at least one or two mm's less than the original inner fixed the problem. Also use thin socks.

Well it depends where your foot is tight, I have flatter feet than a duck so mine was from front to back, if you really want to get technical you can put dry paper in areas so you only stretch the shoes in certain places(dry paper otherwise it too will swell if it's wet)

You know that feeling after serious miles on a set of used shoes the feeling that you don't want to throw them??? Well when you stretch them you get that feeling on new shoes, I'd you know the shoes are very tight put as many bags in as possible, and as I sai repeat if needed,

This I am going to try - once of my sets of shoes is damn tight - despite being the same make, model and size as another pair that fits much better..

I will provide feedback once complete.

Good idea. Does it stretch the material or the stitched seams or the glue joints?

With my Sidi's and Carnac's, since they were made of real leather, I used to wet the shoes and then wear them on a long ride. The shoes fit perfectly thereafter

I have had that problem twice with wearing socks that were too thick.

First one at Cullinan last year where I got hot foot in one foot with 19 km to go.

Then again at the MTN crater cruise also last year where I got it in both feet with 30 km to go.

That is painful stuff. It becomes a battle of mind over pain.

I now only wear thin socks to stop the tight fit.

It pretty much stretches it the way your foot would over a long period just much quicker and less painfull, I done mine twice as I said as my feet are proper flat, try once, it should feel like a half size wide the first time if you jam it in tight,
