there is a secret rabbit hole taking you from the start of the Gamtou straight into section A on A to Z that only us locals know about. Now the secret's out and the mtbanotti is going to silence me for ever...

Why didn't you start with that, local knowledge for the win. It's been fun but I'm sure everyone else is getting bored with us, tagging out

How do you think Sauser made the portage in 11:02 last year...

Jassas!! Did he walk stage 1?

He had cramp on day 1 so we took our foot off the gas. It was my turn on day 2 and I lost a contact lens as well. Day 3 my rear shifter went awol, so it was eventful. On the plus side, the traffic at the back was way easier to negotiate than mid-pack. I think there were riders still coming in at around 5pm on Friday, so at least we were not stone-last.

My question too.

I also was going to drop of our bikes there tomorrow. Any info or experience with that facility?

Was a great event. My wife and I got 4th place in mixed category and 31st overall on GC. Windy and hot but great vibe, well marked and supported.

Don't understand where people got lost - the route was exceptionally well marked. Sounds a bit like cheating to me.

I think you guys had really good conditions.  Adventure day 1 was very hot, windy and very dusty.  Day 2 was initially muddy and then pretty much perfect.  Day 3 was horrendous - but a number of folk had fun in the mud, including me.

We had high winds, massive drops of rain flying at you, thick thick mud, quite a few signs had blown over.  Your glasses were covered in mud splatter, so yes some people might have missed a sign.

This post is to kill any rumours that might start with the banter that suggested cheating, Gluvsmtb and his partner are good guys, no need to start needless speculation.

So the conditions were very different - but we all had fun - the routes were great.  The amount of work by the route team was awesome.

I wasn't necessarily referring to those guys, so sorry for any judging. There was a lot of 'shortcuts'' taken on the Ride, too. Many teams were reported but nothing was done. I'm just saying the routes were well marked.

That said, we were hammered with strong SE on day 1. Day 2 was good. Day 3 was a lot tougher with high temperatures and equally as high wind.
