WHEN ARE WE GOING TO INSTITUTE THE 100 POST LIMIT TO BEGIN USING THE CLASSIFIEDS....OR VERIFICATION PROCESS.

Do it yourself. If someone posts an ad, check the number of posts they have made - or are you talking on behalf of people who don't know about that suggestion?

Yes I know, but safety measures need to be implemented to protect buyers and sellers

Biggest measure to protect yourself is to view the item and do the deal in person. I've made a few 'bigger' purchases from interstate and it's always been 110% but to be honest I wouldn't buy wheels, frames or bikes if I couldn't give it a good going over.

Sorry to hear the deal wasn't a winner. That does suck, don't let it go though.

I've bought carbon hoops on the HubSA marketplace.

I had it checked by another community member that I trusted.

Uncool Seller

Uncool, man.

What do you have to say?

Yip uncool. I got screwed. I dont normally buy from first time posters only someone that has a rating. Thought i would take a chance after chatting to the guy as he seemed decent.

Next time i travel that way i will pop into his work place and introduce myself.

The wheel turns, he will get his turn to be screwed. I just wanted to warn others.

I hope the fleas of a 1000 camels infest his crouch.

Would be more effective if they infest his crotch.....

something like Sellers logging credit card details, and detailed, high res pics with Admin.  Also, sign a waiver that allows admin to make the final decision, and to debit their credit card for a refund where dispute is unresolved.  Its not that hard

Would members be prepared to pay a handling fee for all that? Or a registration fee for those details to be captured?

Too many barriers with all the other credit card scheme etc.

The best way to trade on here, is to be a regular and if you are making an out of province\town purchase where you cannot view the item yourself, then ask a regular hubber who lives in the same town to go and view the item for you.

We are a communty after all!

In order to become an authorised seller, an account should be created, with all important information such as copy of ID, passport, location, working contact number, land line and cellphone, whether home or work. Work contact number (although not sure how valid this is as it shouldnt become a problem for his company etc).

Only once all of the above is in place, should the guy be allowed to sell anything. The profile needs to be confirmed before they are allowed to post anything.

The fact that somebody can just lodge an ad and take somebody for a ride is the problem here, there needs to be more control around who can actually sell.

Might be a ton of additional work but if the Hub had to appoint a middle man to receive the funds, and once the buyer has the goods and is happy, the funds get released to the seller. I dont see this working, but something is needed.

Easiest way is to have a fellow hubber, one with ratings and posts, check it out for you.

Even transfer the $ to her/him, so he/she can pay.

Mostly, people are willing to do this, though perhaps some are not.

I only buy if I can view the article for sale alt once someone I trust has checked out the item for me.i know it does not always work that way but buying something from the hub for me is just the same as buying something via scumtree.sorry to hear about your misfortune though.btw it does not cost much money to take the small claims route, only a lot of time.

Similar to what Aliexpress does. Payment is made to a third party that only controls the financial aspects of the transaction. Buyer pays over monies owed, seller sends merchandise, if buyer is satisfied with products then only does money get paid over to seller. If buyer is not satisfied, goods are returned to seller for seller's account.

I think this would be a great idea. I have no problem paying an extra couple of percent on top of the price for the cost of the service. It will protect guys from bad sellers.

It will also deter bad sellers because they know the goods will be returned and they will be liable for transport costs etc.
