Don't do it.  No offence to him, but too many people have been caught out like this before..

Hand over once the money has cleared and your bank can verify that.

Easy as this . No!

You need to verify that money reflects in your account.

Thereafter you need to check that a stolen cheque was not deposited.

Then the goods get handed over

No please that is how they scam you. Tell him he must wait until the money cleared. They tried it with me as swell.

Just explained to him that I needed funds to be cleared before hand over. Was quick to back out. Thanks everyone for the advice.

Interesting.... use google to find the proof of address and see if it is legit?

Offer to drop the bike of for him at his place of residence, or meet him there?

Funny how he backed out when you advised that the funds needed to be cleared.... clearly the standard scam

As all say, don't be in a rush for the money and do what a buyer asks.... always wait for the funds to clear in your account.

Let me guess:

He wanted the bike for his cousin/nephew/son. He was from Ghana/Moz/Lesoto. He didn't do much haggling...

If you want, i can have him credit checked and verified.

But i need his permission.

There are ways to have him checked without permission

Or so I've heard [emoji63]
