I've finally figured out what that room reminded me of - the top floor of Cajees in Pineslopes! Bikes round about the same age too!

I can add to this thread as well. A month or so ago I decided that I wanted to go back to hardtail from my dual sus merida 96, chose to go 29er because that is where the market seems to be heading and I would get better resale value on a 29er should I want to upgrade in a few years time.

 

I bought the XL Silverback Vida 1 from another hubber to use as a donor bike, everything was in excellent condition and had hardly been used.

Then I got this Mongoose frame, also from a hubber and also in great condition.

All I needed now was a headset, some ESI grips and new cables and housings which I got from my LBS. A bit of elbow grease later and voila, my first mtb build done!

So far I have done the 45km Magalies monster, full Bundu Bash and some spruit riding and she rides like a dream.
