I posted an article elsewhere.

Let's see who here listens to vinyl.

Why do you listen to them, nostalgia, sound quality ,image ,coolness .

Lets hear what some say .

Love my collection

I have over 500 and all original imports in perfect condition and in their inner sleeves and dust covers

Enjoy looking at the covers while listening.

I love the richness of tone from an LP

I do.

I've been buying records since the age of eight. I have more than 5000 some are here, some are still in my Mother's house in the UK.

It's hard to put into words the feeling of opening a gatefold sleeve with proper artwork and the lyric sheet inside with the album.

Carefully removing the vinyl platter from the inner sleeve, holding it up to the light to check for scratches or dust; then gently placing it on the platter, pressing start, lifting the arm and gently engaging the stylus with the groove.

Sitting back and enjoying the soft, smooth analogue sound, as it was meant to be heard (pre-digital recording).

I listened to Bowie's Aladdin Sane and Diamond Dogs last night in this very manner.

I dearly love vinyl.

I own CDs and MP3s as well, I'm not a luddite, I just prefer vinyl.

I listen on a Linn LP12 with Ittok LVII and Linn Adikt, Arcam Apha 8R and 8P and a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 6 in black oak.

I've owned the LP12 since 1986.The rest I've picked up along the way.

me....although not nearly enough listening to of late...I like reading the vinyl etchings and the process of A and B sides...and things like lining notes like "play side B louder"

it also reminds you how albums are like a story and structured so that each side plays like a good book...this is lost on the youth of today

I dont have many...but enough..maybe 200 odd..collected most at the 2nd hand music exchanges in London..

Ah yes, messages in the leadout groove.

On the original London Calling by The Clash, the last track on side four, Train in Vain was not listed but it was written in the leadout.

Fantastic!!

Also double albums and even triples. I know CDs do it but it's not the same; plus when I open the case one of the discs generally goes flying...

Friend just brought me Metallica S&M on vinyl on perfect condition yesterday.

Don't even know I had recently purchased a '67 Lenco L75 in a Blaupunkt wooden case. Thing of beauty, and it still fascinates me every day.

I have a small collection at the moment. Find that I actually sit and listen to the music when I play them instead of setting up a long playlist of digital tracks that just end up playing in the background while I busy myself with other things.

I generally have sessions - where i will occupy myself for hours just pulling out vinyl and having a jol....and then nothing for a month...and then the process repeats

its mainly because my turntable is in a room that we dont go into much...but i'm presently changing that as we speak :D

Stretch...i got a spare stdy not being used....

Maybe i can make a little audio man cave.

Whats a decent setup for a 9m2 room?

Looooong question with a loooong answer.

Budget will be the main deciding factor .

Vinyl is for making a collection with. Its an expensive hobby that leads to addiction.

Only thing is that a crate of vinyl gets quite damn heavy if you tend to move around a lot ;)

I'm without a TT at the moment, but would love to get a Rega next. e.g. http://www.rega.co.uk/rp1.html

I enjoy the process of selecting an album, putting it on...the warm sound.

Most of my collection came from digging through crates of old vinyl at antique shops. Found some good stuff mixed in with LOTS of Ge Korsten & Bles Bridges.

My most prized Album is John Prine's "Prime Prine" that was an original promotional copy ("not for resale") my wife bought for my birthday last year.
