I recently advertised my Iphone on OLX and Gumtree. The amount of scam emails and messaged I received was unbelievable. All of them start with : Still for sale?

Cape Town - The victim in an alleged online dating scam was “very, very angry” when a woman he was supposed to fetch late at night from the Cape Town International Airport, did not pitch, a court in Cape Town heard on Wednesday.

To calm him, and regain his sympathy for her, the blonde woman named Joy, supposedly from Durban, sent him a photograph of herself in tears over the alleged deterioration in health of her seriously ailing mother, the victim, Kuo-Sen Liu, told the court.

Liu, from Milnerton in Cape Town, testified at the trial of alleged online scamster Nigrian Muyiwa Obafeny, 35, in the Bellville Specialised Commercial Crimes Court........

Wow, that's impressive! The damage was rather hectic! They were "lucky" it was on such a nice sand bank for them to collect it.

Yeah you gottas watch out for the scams on OLX. While I wasn't scammed buying. I was actually scammed when trying to sell. I got scammed out of a Samsung 840 Evo SSD. I was selling it on OLX. And the guy was all legit and stuff. I recieved payment notification or something that at least appeared to be a payment notification. And so I handed over the drive. And then I dunno. The notification either was not genuine or he reversed the payment as I lost my 6 grand drive.

On the other hand I am quite alert when buying and I have seen a lot of "too good to be true" bike ads lately. It seems people are catching on that decent bikes can actually fetch quite a bit of cash. So remain ever vigilant people!
