I weigh about 70kgs and am riding a giant trance (140mm travel), is it overkill to run 200mm front and 180mm back? Standard setup is 180/160. I like aggressive trail riding and some enduro. Running shimano slx brakes.

I have 180 F, 160 R. No problems so far. I weigh 80kg, but have to admit that I'm probably not as fast as some out there. Depends how fast u want to go, and how steep the trail u ride are.

I weigh 85Kg...Just upgraded to XT's with 180/180 on my Trance 29er, I was having some fade

on previous 160/160 Formula C1.

Still to test new setup.....

I also weigh 70 and I like the 200/180 combo.

It's not about having 'enough' braking power, for me it's about achieving that braking power effortlessly. A light dab on one finger as opposed to a firm pull. It helps to remain loose on the bike and not tense up.

Have a meta am..200 up front 185 rear with xo trail brakes....soft one finger braking at most speeds not matter how steep or Rocky. Freakin awesome.

If you're thinking about it then do it.nif you don't like it you could always change back. if you don't do it you'll always be thinking why didn't you try it.

160mm for Xc haha

Not overkill. Complete control with zero effort, zero fade.

Running 200 Front and 185 Rear with Avid Code R's .. sublime.

You do realise that those codes are also responsible for some of that awesome stopping power
