Last year three of us got a friend to drop us off on the N14 northbound as close to the start as we could get. No more than a ten minute coast to the start. Then she came and parked at the start/finish ready for when we got back.

If you can do it like this its well worth it.

I'm staying at a guest house just off Cedar road. The wife starts an hour after me, so for her to sit in the car or on a pavement till her start. I plan to ride to the start and have her drive through later. My main concern is having to ride across a thorny dusty car park.

Is there a completely tarred section to ride from William Nicol to the start pens...?

Or do i have to wear old socks over my carbon shoes to walk across a veld with my bike above my head...?

Does the Steyn City on/offramp take you all the way to the start on tar...?

There is tar all the way to the start if you are riding a bike. If you are in a car you going to have to park in deep dust somewhere in the allocated parking. Best park at Four Ways shopping mall, Monte Casino or Leaping Frog shopping centre and ride down to the start. 2km ride back up the hill after you finish.

Shot. As I said, definitely riding to the start, just want to be prepared in case I need to traverse dirt.

Just be careful of thorns!! Experience from this weekend was thorns, thorns and even more thorns. Apparently due to the lack of hard rain??

If you are going over the dirt, carry your bike if you can.

Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can buy one of the 947 MTB shirts? I didn't order one in my pack and would really like to get one!

You can buy one at the expo.
