Loved the race, had a mechanical somewhere around the middle race, jockey jammed didn't know what to do and then an oke with a puncture helped me out, lost around 15 minutes there and had to to work hard to catch up with some of those who passed me. Stans were spraying against me in the last 2kms and rolled over the timing mats on a flat front.

Loved the water points, well stocked.

great race, will I be back, mmmmmmmm pulled 42 thorns out of the front and 37 out of the back.

Well done everyone

See what happens when you spend too much time on the roadie, oufy. Your mtb is feeling neglected and threw a tantrum. Kom ry berg werk toe!

I wonder what the real winning time was?

The first two on the Racetec results page were MG riders who were placed on the middle of the pack in the last few races....hmmm

It looks like a few 63km riders took a 40km detour......

Racetec should have a timing mat on the 40 detour as well.

I enjoyed the race and will do it again next year.

Its great training for the Amarider.

However, it is a bit disheartening if there is doubt regarding timing and/or the route is not marked well.

I will never be on the podium so a few positions up/down will not make much difference, but it is a nice goal to improve ones seeding and time from race to race.

IMHO i thought route was well marked with arrows at all relevant points, in fact i thought the route had more than enough markings.

as someone said above, if it didnt cost you millions no need to cry bout taking a 5min detour.

Concentrate more and you should be ok!!!

Overall well organized event with more than enough water tables!

There was a whole bunch of us that didn't see the long route sign after the water point where the races split. My wife who was about 10 minutes ahead of me says there was a big commotion as they tried to "cut off" a bunch of them, but they forced their way past a marshal/farmer onto the long route. Those of us just behind weren't so lucky. In fact we were deceived, as the folks at the water point told us to just follow the signs over the concrete bridge (knowing it was the medium route). I suspect they removed the long route markers. I do feel short-changed and a bit miffed, having missed the cut at the Philadelphia Epic MTB. And it wasn't like we'd been out there for 5 hours or something. It clear from the results that something went wrong.

A fat bike would have been perfect for this race with all the sand.

I was expecting Leon Schuster to jump out of a bush anytime, with a camera and a fat bike. Telling me I have been Schustered. Waaay too much sand for me.

Also I would say 40 percent of the 60km riders dropped out and did the short route.

I don't recall this route being so sandy last year, I can only put it down to the lack of rain, but it was welcomed got the opportunity to shake off some wheel suckers.

I think I've done someone wrong at either PPA or Racetec, no results shown for Breederiver or Philadelphia, and I'm a paid up member :(

With all the "confusion", I don't think I made the top 20 anyway,...so you and Carmichael are still in debt :)))

I must admit, I found the route rather nice. With all the sand, there was only one short section of about 50m where I had to get off and push, the remainder I could ride. Also found the route markings to be sufficient enough.

Nice race overall, felt great coming up the road with all the supporters

Where are you mounting your chip? When I had mine on my fork I didn't get results.

I suspect when on a mtb fork it is so much higher to the mats vs the road fork. I now fit mine on the chainstay, positioned horizontally as opposed to the preferred vertical which racetec swear by, never had an issue since.
