Man was made to run, not to ride a bike.....Wimmin maybe not but then someone invented sports bra's.

Running is the simplest form of exercise you can do, but it will never be as much fun as a good bit of mtb single track.

Sooooo Dips, why can you ride but not run...man boobs?

SWISS have you no respect they called moobs,,,, just when I started liking you,, attention to detail please!!!

Some Maroon 5 in the ears

Asics on the pins

Very good for bone density too

Run, Forrest, Run

Asics are the only way.

Music helps a whole lot for longer training sessions but messes with you in long races, you get so used to having it that you get bored without it.

Hate doing LSD on a spin bike - not really allowed to ride by myself - makes sense I spose BUT did 30mins on the spin bike, 20 on the row machine and 20 on the the treadmill, and then I did it again. 2:20 cardio. Managed to run just over 5Kms - and I am so not built to run and it was lekker - all I can say is thank heavens for Triumph! Felt like I had been hit by a bus the next morning but can't wait for Monday to do it again :)

I think that was what made running fun for me, the feeling of knowing I had worked really hard and being sore. The last tri I did i only trained running and swimming and did close on my fastest bike time so it definitely helps.

Damn I agree running sucks. And I used to be a runner, marathons etc.

Haven't run or played football in years only cycled. Last year ran round rietvlei ( yellow course only ) coz my daughter wanted to and it was easier to run and keep her on the path and grb her when she went bundu bashing.

All I can say is bollocks to that ,I hurt in places I forgot or didn't even know I had.

Really wish I could find the minerals to go running again. As I know that if it was hurting muscles I don't use, surely I could as the L.T.G said be stronger and eventually faster with less effort.

haha, I think I laughed louder than I should have for that post.

Damn minerals. Wish I could find them too.

I only run with my dogs. Trying to keep up with 2 huskies is really hard damn near impossible. Still fun though. Although, if it wasn't for them I probably wouldn't run at all.

I used to think I was fit when I was riding....doing stage races etc top 30 percent of the field...then i started running to train for comrades and realised how pathetically unfit I was! Running is hard..got can't just up your mileage like cycling because then you develop this knee problem..or this arch injury..or shin splints...tough tough Sport.

Other thing...You can run to ride..but you cant ride to run

I love running. It's the ultimate leveller. There's no hiding in the bunch, there's no recuperating on the downhills. Its just you, your mind and the road/dirt/trail. The fact that it strengthens your legs, gives a good cardiovascular workout and generally improves your cycling performance is also a plus.

Running is great. I hardly ever cycle in the week, but try to run 2 times and it works a charm. Cycling is good for running also... Few years ago I went for an epic bike tour. Cycled almost every day for 3 weeks and didn't run once. Before the tour my 8km running time was 44 mins. Afterwards it was 39.

I read that besides for a good cardiovascular workout, running has absolutely no benefit to one's cycling, unless if you run stairs or uphill.

I dont think it trains the same muscles, but it keeps the weight down. Power vs weight.

Before you believe Asics is the only way, read 'Born to run'...

I've also discovered that jogging is awesome. Just whip on a pair of shoes and you're out the door, no gadgets or helmets or dodgy noises from your RD to worry about. Best way to chill after hectic work or study. And you can burn it in a short 30 minute session.

I'd love to become a trail jogger but I don't know where to buy a bandana.
