ASG Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 Hi guys, About 30 guys in open Team cat's transponders are not linked to their names (all showing as 5:00.00 on results sheet)...the guys are waiting at the venue from 07h00 this morning to do that...times are logged on these transponders so times will correct immediately after that's done. See rider communique sent out last night. Regardsag Electronic timing: Riders that did not register their transponders to approach Sharon Ruddock at the start line at 7am prior to the start of the time trial. All transponders to be affixed to the LEFT FRONT FORK of your bicycle.

So you stuffed up a stuff up.

A lot of people seem to have taken 5 hours to finish yesterday.

Guest Lancesball Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Dear Tour of Goodhope After last years total and utter disgrace with regards to the results and so forth, we as riders were promised that because it was "out of you hands and not under our control" it would be take upon yourselves to make sure it will NEVER happen again and will be streamlined for 2016. Well that is clearly a load of bull****. After day 1, we are in the exact same position. No one knew anything about the results or the TT start times. When some results were published they were wrong. Then very late last night over twitter this is posted: "TT Starts in the order Teams 8am, 60 90am, Open 9:30; Elite women from 11am, Vets 11:30 - 12:30, Elites 12:30" This is the total opposite as to what is on your website and race order but it does get better. I received an Email at 04:32am telling me that my start time is near to 1pm. I race Vets. So what happened tot he 11:30 - 12:30??? Not everyone is close to the start venue, I personally know someone staying 1hr away with his whole team and support crew. That alone shows no respect for your entrants if you not sending out info asap? What amazes me the most is that over the last 10yrs or so and I have ridden about 8 editions of the old Tour de Boland we never ever had any timing or communication issues. The last 2 years have been so bad that its an amateur hour at best. Clearly this shows last year was in-fact your problem as its a carbon copy of this year.

Events are clearly too higher grade for them. Spare a thought for Bestmed and the other sponsors who also put faith (and a lot of cash) into this.

All transponders to be affixed to the LEFT FRONT FORK of your bicycle. That is the biggest load of bullcrap! Firstly, we were not allowed to talk to Sharon as she was "busy". I know exactly what happened. CSA would not allow the Mobii chips to be linked to the riders because they insisted that they need to check CSA memberships and make people pay for new ones if they didnt have them. ASG raised this as a concern as usually this is done before the events. CSA promised to have multiple stations to check CSA memberships at registration. They pitched with one. (Bullcrap 2 as ASG should have ensured this happened) This caused a massive queue and the aunties and uncles from CSA started scrambling and writing names and number etc on various little pieces of paper all over the place. ASG did try to get CSA to stop this nonsense and allow the guys the full 5 days to confirm their CSA memberships, they were not keen. These little papers have obviously gone missing and now some rider names are not linked to their chip numbers. So please DO NOt say that riders did not register their chips and blame it on them, they did. I personally made sure of it.If the little papers went missing, that is not our fault. Perhaps apologise and take responsibility for this and people will be less frustrated. We were also told to go to the start this morning to sort out, we did filled out more little papers and told it would be sorted. We were then told to GO back again AFTER the race and fill out more forms. The level of incompetence is getting very frustrating. The people were clear after last year, get the timing sorted. As much as nice glasses are cool, most people have glasses already, what they do not have is accurate results.

Maybe the okes on the CTCT MTB thread who are complaining about goodie bags should read your post to get some perspective on what is really important when organising races. Getting the timing wrong once, bad but mistakes happen, getting it wrong so badly 2 years in a row after promising to fix it - unforgivable!

Getting the timing wrong once, bad but mistakes happen, getting it wrong so badly 2 years in a row after promising to fix it - unforgivable! I would give up all the stuff in the goodie bag, the free shirt, the glasses and 2014 rugby mag for racetec to time this event. Its a real no brainer, everyone at the event is doing the cycle tour so already has chips. ASG has not once said, oops we messed up, no winners jersey for team comp, hell no time for the winner. If I see one more stupid marketing PR tweet or facebook post from them without them sorting out the results and taking responsibility. Also they apparently for the team comp are taking the 4th person across the lines time, instead of the cumulative 4 best times.

Off topic, but they stuffed up my friend's Epic kit last year, printed all the logos' mirror image...
