Still Deciding if i want to go. Its about 600KM from us, but will make a nice family weekend getaway.

Did a 200km ride last weekend, so i guess it wont be that bad....ha ha ha ha ha ha ha :whistling:

Will the this race also have the long dirt road drags. Really got my ass kicked on those at Clarens.

MM is loose rock technical riding. If you aren't fit or don't ride dual sus you may not enjoy it.

Any opinions on how the Monster compares with the National Series marathons ito difficulty?

Similar to a difficult van gaalens or a rooiberg marathon .My times were similar for all 3

Exactly what I'm hoping for. Those long dirt road drags aren't my thing.

Wooohoo-That's my heart. Boohoo-that's my mind. I've not done any 80+ rides.

Yip last year was one big batch start, it sucked as people were pushing bikes for the 1st 2 km's.

I hear this year there will be seeding, hopefully based on sas index.

Did the 45km last year in 2:37, 1 tough climb and the rest lekker rough downhill.

The massage benches at the end were awesome!

I decided to do what I never do....rtfm

Found on the magalies monster FAQ page regarding seeding:

So me and a particular buddy... whom I am slowly starting to hate now having discovered this tread has decided to enter the 80 after being coaxed into it.

So to all I bid farewell as it seems we have decided to commit suicide by monster.

btw

Thanks TK-Sp3cialist...

Last year I got 78.5 and 1670m. Sure this year will be the same

I checked (via email) with Stillwater and they confirmed that the route has changed slightly for 2015 - so it sounds like the profile on the web is for the 'new' route.

20 Days Ladies!!!!!

I can't wait anymore.  3 days at Buffelspoort with the family, and one awesome AFKAK ride on Saturday!  My 3rd one.  Maybe less cramping this year!  Doesn't matter how they change the route..  Its gonna be hard.  Remember, the Monster climb is the easy part (not that bad).  The 45 odd km's after that climb is what kills you!!!  Remember to pedal down the long 7-9km downhill.....  Cramps galore if your legs are cold after that..!!!

Cramp fest this race.

I am curious to see if this year is as bad as my first one two years back. I am a lot fitter so I will let you guys know. This one must be one of the toughest one day races on the calendar. Two years back I thought I will have just done Sani, how bad can it be, well........

Who is going to drive through on the morning of the race?

I'm still undecided. Guess it will be a lot less stressful to stay over the Friday evening and not have to get up at 2am to drive all the way there.

If I am going, I will be driving through on the morning of the race. Also still undecided, but really want to do this one!
