Paul Ruinaard Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 So I want to try this out on my bike - 27.5+ tyres and rims on a 29er full sus frame. Has anyone done it? If so what rims and tires and what frame. Will it fit in to my 29er Specialized Epic Frame ? They reckon the traction is awesome - I just dont want to build a whole new bike (yet)

The guys at Cotic are testing at the moment, so I know it will fit. http://www.cotic.co.uk/news/2015/chubbyupdate2 awaiting tires (Specialized are bringing in 3" Ground Controls). I believe a wider rim is preferred.

A 27.5 + tyre when inflated is about the same diameter as a normal 29" tire so it shouldn't affect anything. I wouldn't do it just yet - wait for the tire choice to be a bit more than what it is at the moment

I suggest that you wait for the 29+ craze to hit.do some googling and you can see the reviews. Basically wider rims, fatter tyres, more contact patch, better traction but less spun mass than 29 or 29+. Makes sense and the reviews are so far good. Not needed but what the hell.....
rock Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 all the forks that are 27.5+ plus seem to be 29er forks but with the new wider 115mm axle, don't think any current 29er fork will work.
