How do you wash your water bottle?

I find that the dishwasher kills bottle lids - they always seem to leak after going through once.

So I only ever rinse the bottle with clean water after a ride, then shake it dry before storing it for the next ride.  No soap, no brushes.  But it is very dry here on the reef so I suppose we are lucky.

The Camelbak on the other hand, requires a whole other level of slime prevention!

If you rinse them with water immediately after a ride, then the slime will have less nutrients (i.e. sugar) to feed on when it grows.

I wash mine in the dishwasher, if they are bad, then a teaspoon of jick filled to the top with water and leave for a few hours. Also good for soaking the lids.

But mostly, don't leave them with juice in after a ride and nothing will grow in them.

Huh....?! I... ehhhrrr... rinse them with cold water after the ride, fill them back up, put them back in the fridge. Take out before ride, off I go.

Every couple of months I throw them... or one of them... in the dishwasher.

Dishwasher and rinse out under the tap. I always remove the cap and run hot water through the mouth piece and rinse the bottle before putting it in the DW if I have used anything other than water to drink.

Sometimes if I have just used water I don't wash the bottle, just rinse and turn upside down to let dry  but then I usually use genuine pure swiss mountain stream water.

Throw them away already !! Your health is worth more than a water bottle. Amazing how people stick to the same water bottle - like that favourite T-shirt !!

I'm still ok, ok, ok, hic, burp...

Seriously, some of my water bottles (Specialized) are more than a few years old...one of the reasons I like clear bottles...so I can easily see what's cooking in there

Within weeks after a new water bottle gets used it becomes slimy and smooth on the inside – even with just water and no juices! I found that shaking it with coarse sand and water helps, also diluted JIK solution. But this is a schlepp! What is your secret chemical remover of slime on the inside of your water bottle?

I put them in the freezer after I wash them. Never need to sterilize them.

Get a new one when they get a bit leaky and horrible from the dishwasher (just because I'm lazy to scrub)

I through mine in with the washing or in case of having 10 dirty bottles like after the TransKaroo I'll through them in the washing machine on there own, just put it on hot, rinse afterwards.

Bottle brush, sunlight dishwash, rinse well. . Teaspoon salt ,fill with water stand overnight.

Forgot my own trick and rode the 94.7 on one bottle Cadence and one bottle salt water.
