I started to notice that each year's version on the shoe (now on V5), I get less miles out of them Currently on 800km and I can feel that the heel cushioning is kaput. My first pair I got more than 1200km out of them. My father in law used to get almost 1500km out of asics, gel nimbus or something. I will not change my brand, as I tried and won myself a few injuries when I tried brooks. Anyone else use new balance, and noticed the same? and also the price just keep going up, paid 900 for the first pair in 2010, now this year was almost 2000.
Rocket-Boy Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Generally they recommend ever 600 - 800ks.I can normally squeeze more out of mine though.Cant comment on New Balance though, I hated mine and they always seemed to cause blisters.Asics are the way!

I've (+/- 79 kg) been using Asic Cumulus and Nimbus for a long time and generally when I get to about 700km I can feel they need to be replaced, start getting little aches in my feet. The prices here in switz are also ridiculous, this year the Nimbus 17 = Chf 230 - 270 depending where you go. That's R2900 - R3400 Now I buy them from Amazon
Red Zone Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I have found that New Balance seem to conk in fairly quickly, its like the EVA goes stale and hardens up. I have found I get much better longevity out of Asics. I dont keep a running log book so it is hard to estimate, but I think I got around 1000 km out of the NB, and get around 1500 out of Asics. I try to keep three pairs of running shoes around, and rotate them for long runs, short stuff, track work, hills etc...

IceCreamMan Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Interesting discussion...I use the Asics GT2000 3 and my last pair have lasted around 250km and they now pretty much toast, not sure how I managed to do that. I normally get around 500km's though. Sad that the shoe still looks new but the sole is kaput.

Wheelsuck Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 900km out of my Nimbus and that has been going like that since I started with my first pair of Nimbus 10, Now Nimbus 17 is around R2K. I always look for older versions that are going cheap, once got Nimbus 12 in Dubai at a BOGOF sale and got four pairs.

I used the GT's for a while and Im on the Kinsei 5's now, bit more expensive but awesome shoes.I always setup my shoes in strava, that way when my tomtom logs the run I select the shoe and it keeps track of the mileage on it.
