Most dangerous route I have ridden, no water at water points for last 40 ks in that heat is rediculous. There is no excuse for running out of water. For as much money as 94.7 , this race was piss poor, and a solid show of when race organizers seek profit over rider safety and enjoyment. Absolute dog show in my opinion.

It was easier than last year (most of the hill was done at the start).

Lots of moronic dick heads in BMW's without licence plates making life dangerous.

I learned from the Wilro 2 weeks ago and made sure I was in bunch when we turned with the wind in our backs at 60km. What a thrill for 28min to race along at 46km/h! It made it worth it to face the crosswind alone after the left turn on the N14 (as I refuse to ride in a echelon on that road- my life is worth more than a few minutes). I was hoping for 3:15 and came in a lot better than that. Happy.

Was in one if the middle BL bunches and one rider went down hard over last set of speed bumps on the final stretch.

Does anyone know whether (s)he is OK?

Overall prefer the old route; conquering Sterkies after 100km just gives you the feeling you really deserved that beer

My 1st proper race this year, VB bunch.  Went ok considering the lack of training and all the exstra choccies I hard this year.  Eish that wind!!

From a safety perspective.  Normally we have a bike marshall.  Nothing today??

i found the route better than last year, but is there no alternative to the N14 that is just crazy

But they got the basics wrong

The toilets at the venue were cleaned 2 years ago, I rode back with the mrs from her EL group, no water at the last two points

Came to the medal stand no cups for coke

really for R400 bucks the organization was piss poor

The same train of speeding cars came past us in the AL group. We had a bakkie riding in front of us, but no bike marshals in sight.

I also heard from a few DL group riders, about the lack of water at the last couple of water points. Some good samaritans were stopping to give fellow cyclists (who were fighting dehydration in the midday heat) sips out of their own water bottles.

In contrast, at the Race for Victory we were accompanied by bike marshals who controlled the traffic. They dictated to the cars when it was safe to overtake us...and at the finish line we were greeted with an array of choice regarding refreshments (water, coke, chocolate/strawberry milk, even ice cream)...and all that at a fraction of the cost!

It's a no brainer as to which event I'll be supporting going forward.

Ya was my brother in law. He is cool, bike is destroyed. Someone clipped his front wheel in the tussling for position at the end with 6 ks to go. Broken finger but otherwise all good

Absolutely. The venue was rubbish and I was dirty before I parked my car, toilets were disgusting beyond a joke, marshaling was non existent, water tables were a joke, and safety was an afterthought, and not even a drink at the end not to mention a medal. For R350, not again from me that's for sure.

Glad he's OK. Hope bike is insured.

Btw, I had the course at just over 110 kays but racetec has it as 102 thus my average is a lot lower than what it was.

Am sure that once Racetec is exposed to the full force of the wrath of The Hub, it will be corrected swiftly

My average also lower than my SRM showed. The km is 111.
