What they said.

No offense but feel like ss riders are like bmw riders.

Keep saying it's the best but no reason why.

And I'm being dead serious here, why the pro ss? What makes it a better experience?

Personally I really enjoy my SS rigid and probably ride it 90% of the time (training and a few races), the main reason is it has way less maintenance and I do ride 'quite' a lot. Bonus is also to my mind is that it you get a 'better' training session than you may with a geared bike where you'll take the easiest gear ..... yes I train I don't just JRA but that's my choice.

BUT and this is key to me is that I do ride my other geared bikes and I DO still enjoy them so I am not a SS is a be all and end all type rider. Despite having ridden it for a long time ( a few years) I have never gotten to the 'my other bikes are gathering dust' stage.

Then again I love riding a bike any bike

Keep it SS.

Since I build mine +/- 2 months back I have hardly ridden my Full Sus bike.

It's all about simple fun ride. You will be surprised what you can accomplish with one gear.

That's no lie!

Sjo, a BMW driver eh?

Wait, BMW rider or driver? Because I used to be a BMW rider.

(no offence taken)

I have tried to classify, or explain SS riding, but it is rather difficult. Main pro's are as BigBen stated, but for me it's a very uncomplicated way of riding.

It is either something you enjoy, and get into, or something you may try and not really get enjoy as mutch as the next guy.

I also have a large amount of self loathing, which kinda justifies my SS rigid addiction, and it gets me up the hills.

Well! If I get my tires and pedals sorted tomorrow I will commute to work and continue the rest of the week. Sat morning 1st Spruit ride on the ss.... Will then judge after then...

I hated my first SS. My knees took major strain, and I was stiff and sore after every ride.

Then I got used to it, and got much stronger. You end up learning to ride a completely different style, and I love the SS way now. Standing on all the climbs, getting stronger with every hill

I won't be able to join you.

Would dig to join to guys and give you a few pointers.

You have to learn how to "dance" on your pedals on the climbs. Ligtht-footed push-pull with your feet
