Have a single speed that I want to take back to gears... Maybe 1 X 10 or 1 X 9 or 11... But the cheapest route?

Just buy a cassette, detailed and shifter? Want to just keep the crank as is...

Ss looks like this

I did this conversion a couple weeks ago.

I needed a cassette, rear derailleur, shifter, chain, cable and cable outer.

Finding a single shifter was tricky, I ended up getting a Shimano Zee. Unfortunately, there was nothing in the classifieds at the time.

1. Buy cassette, shifter, and RD

2. DIY fitting - its not that difficult

3. Realise gears is overrated

4. Sell components on the hub

Ahh man, would have been so much more exciting if this thread was titled "converting 1 by 10 to SS ! " ????

Nothing better then seeing the pics of some mtb singlespeed conversions ????

Zee shifter is about the cheapest option.. Got one on my 1x10 as well.

Fortunately I did not have to mutilate my beautiful SS...

will be happy with some tips.

You spend the next 4 months on SS, you won't want to ride the pyga.......

An SS is an SS, it matters not the material but the experience!
