Burning tummy/gut sensation

So the wife has been battling with a burning sensation in the gut whenever she rides. It never happens during the day, evening or anytime else. ONLY when she rides, be it road or mtb. She describes it as a sharp burning pain, not in the stomach, but the lower down in the gut. She's had it for about 6 months now and varies in strength.

I've tried Googling the symptom but can't seem to find anything besides tummy exercises lol. I know we're not all doctors, but it's just confusing that it only hits her while she's on a bike. Her bike posture is fine, and her liquid intake is 32Gi, although she admits she doesn't consume it often as she would like too. But she's super fit, averages 28km/h (road) and weighs 60kg. She jogs often as well yet the burning sensation appear.

Does anyone have, or heard of these symptoms before.

You will need to mark up a picture to get a vague idea of the location of the pain - otherwise it is difficult to even speculate.

This dr prefers pics drawn with permanent markers, some people process pics better,

Jokes aside he is not kidding pm him a pic he is pretty good with this stuff, (don't let him know I said that I will deny it)

Burning sensation lower in the gut? Could it be the bladder?

I have a pair of cycling shorts that somehow nail me right in the bladder. I also get a slight burning sensation whenever I wear them. I don't feel it when I walk, only on the bike. I know it is the bladder because the burn soon turns into a massive desire to wee, yet when I try to, nothing comes out.

None of my other shorts do this to me.

Do 2 things for me:

1 - Throw those shorts away

2 - Make an appointment with your favorite urologist and go for a prostate checkup - blood test, manual exam and ultrasound - as well as a urinary flow analysis - do not delay on this please - chances are the shorts are just creating pressure on a couple of nerves in the area - BUT - early diagnoses GREATLY improves treatment results.... and in this case better safe than sorry.

I would suggest you listen to V12, if he says you should do it then you should take his advice.

Thanks for the advice, but I have already been to a urologist (not for the shorts issue, but something else). He did do an ultrasound, surely any prostrate problems would have been picked up then.

Perhaps, but did he put his finger where it does not belong?... :whistling:   :nuke: :excl:  :offtopic:

I went to a urologist for a checkup and he casually tunes me lie down, and wham...unexpected to say the least... At least nothing was wrong...but still, lets have a drink firsts before we go there, aye!

Back to the topic at hand, I also sometimes have a bit of a burn in the gut when I ride, more specifically when I climb (usually only when I really gooi mielies), but after a while the burn recedes, more quickly when I drink my onboard GU Tabs fluid, or eat something...mostly this occurs at the start of a ride.

I had this too and found it went as I got fitter.

Apparently you should learn to love the pain but then we are not all doping...

Not neccesarily - depends what he was looking for.... also remember that these things change over time, (often pretty quickly) so it very much depends.......

Me - I would be conservative and have a comprehensive exam done on why that pair creates urgency - that is not "normal" - like I say - may be nothing, may be something, but I would like to know exactly what if it was me.

Didn't know there were so many Doctors who also happen to be members on the Hub

There are several that actively contribute.... and probably some I don't even know about.
