I am needing a specific length QR skewer.

Can anyone suggest somebody who is able to make one up for me please?

Thanks

What you could do is get the required length measurement, take a rear QR skewer and take it to a machine shop, where they'll be able to cut it to size and put a thread on it for you...

Okay, scratch that plan...

285mm? You sure? What are you skewering?

Yes, this is the correct length.  New rack onto a Superfly.

I know it sounds long but it is the actual requirement.

Have been to numerous engineering shops and they say it is impossible to make.  (Too much work?)  Cycle shops and known repair LBS workshops are unable to help either.  Need one as soon as.

Anyone?

wait. normal rear skewer is 135mm. so that's over double the length. what type of helium balloons are you mounting on this rack?!!

Nothing is totally impossible. Its will cost you a few rands I can assure you that, but I reckon its doable.

PM me and I will see if I can assist.

142mm + 2x20mm rack base plates + skewer endcaps = 285mm (can cut down to size)

How big exactly are those skewer end caps? 20mm?

142+40+20+20 = 225mm - not that close to 285 really....

Personally I would see if you can join 2 skewers - there are hubbers that can help with hi tech welding... once you have a final size.... on the basis of measure twice, cut once...
