Youngsters - take off on your own please

Good Afternoon.

I would like to sort of 'lay a complaint'.  Besides for myself, various of my friends also cycling really have a problem with the youngsters (arrogant and sometimes inexperienced) that causes various falls and issues on the route (20Km).

I am sure if you would put the question out there, the replies would be overwhelming in support of my complaint.

They come past like maniacs, suddenly break in front of you on hills or sand or whatever challenge, moms stop in the middle of the route waiting for their kids - it's the most frustrating thing having these kids on the route.  And the race (20km or not) is enjoyable - besides for them.

My one Friend, Nicolette, fell 4 times on Saturday, all because of children.  Myself could go up on one hill duriing the single track because of a boy stopping midway - suddenly - and make you fall or cause others behind you to fall or affecting your time because you have to stop constantly.

I would like to make a suggestion that the primary school kids (with or without parents) take off half an hour later than the 20km adults - as with the 40km after the 75km, and the 20km after the 40km.

Please consider and test this complaint and suggestion with other members (not parents or primary school kids themselves).

The highschool boys are just plain arrogant and a pain - but at least a bit more experienced ...

thank you in advance.

Regards, Lizel.

Beste Lizel,

Maybe I should complain about the 16 to 19 year olds that dare take up spots on the podium in the 40 - 50km races, thereby withholding me from achieving my goals as a middle aged ou ballie who has woken up too late in life.  :whistling:

To be really sincere to the OP:  please understand that youngsters do not know they have brakes until it is too late, do not know they have limits, races with their heart because they want to win at all costs and don't understand such a thing as pain.  Work around it and expect it.

Considering the firm contingent of Grammar Nazi's on the Hub, I think this is probably a unique and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity...and i'm not gonna let it slide...

rem verstellings = remverstellings (en um, ditto)

ontblood = ontbloot

ensovoorts...

Plesier... :whistling: :P

Sigh. Going further...

I think this is probably a --> double iteration of the same concept, therefore one should be dropped from the sentence

unique and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity... --> See above.

...and i'm not gonna let it slide... --> Should have had a space following the last period. Capital "I". "Going to" in place of "gonna".

So it should either read:

Considering the firm contingent of Grammar Nazis on the Hub, I think this is a unique opportunity... and I'm not going to let it slide...

OR:

It's a pleasure.

EDIT: Additionally, the "and" should be capitalised. I know that some conventions say that you cannot start a sentence with "And", however, that has become less prevalent over the years.

:)

In other words: If you decide to migrate with the wildebeest, you have to expect stampedes, predators and mayhem. If you want free flow and elegance, you have to migrate with the swallows, but then you have to learn to fly first. :)

The bit I generally hate about races is when the routes for different distances merge, as happened at the Trailseeker Helderberg race. All of a sudden after riding at a good measured pace on the 40kay, I find myself suddenly stuck behind some mommies and their kiddies of "literally" 6 - 7 years old riding side by side on a stretch of jeep track with F-all consideration for the rest of us, cause they is mos also racing...on the 5km fun ride...seriously? WTF! Also, when some dad and his pre-teen laaitie were riding abreast on a ST section...abreast! I ended up passing them through ditches and between trees...and no, we were not on the same race, as they had boards for the shorter fun ride and I was riding the half-xcm.

I paid good money on that event, only to get held up by some people who should be riding on another trail all together. Honestly, the more I think about it the more I conclude that these days races are all about the income for the organizers, and trying to make the event enjoyable places a distant third on the order of things...
