Guys, the next upgrade for your bike is a gun.

Only ride with a gun if you competent enough to know when to use it and when to back off especially with other cyclist around, you run the risk of putting them in danger.

OMG! I went up there this morning from Sun Valley side, probably came through after this took place but saw plenty of dodgy characters about - there were more of them last week though. Oh well, guess I'll avoid Black Hill next week

Amazing you can't go for a cycle without looking over your shoulder. Makes me think even more negatively about this country (because the country's the problem). Was talking about this yesterday at a Braai. Lady was walking down the beach when a local mussel digger(smuggler) approach her with a screw driver, used to dig for mussels, luckily she had a full can of pepperspry on her(don't see people having a walk down the beach, with pepperspray, anywhere else in the world). After she spryed him she beet him within a inch of his life with the screwdriver's Handel. She's probably getting a lawsuit coming her way. Don't want to be negative. But don't think it's gona get better. Hope the guys get there bike back and they are ok. Hopefully get the guys behind bars(prison bars not Santa and spez bars)

I'm a gunowner but prefer not to go through the "Ja officer Nee officer" crap. In this messed up criminal court system it's easy to end up with a life sentence for protecting your own life and property. Best solution is to ride at least 4 people together. Safety in numbers???

Next topic will be "weight saving guns". We had an incident (not bike related) that ended "badly" for the thief. His 2 buddies got away. Despite all the crap we went through the theft stopped. Somewhere someone is going to get demoer in and something bad is going to happen which will hopefully send a strong message to these scumbags

So where can one buy a good/proper/functional can of pepper spray?

Going to velcro one can on each of my bikes and on inside of car door.

You have to carry the pepper spray on you body not n the bike in my opinion. When thieves ambush you more than likely you'll fall off your bike and be separated from you pepper spray maybe a pepper spray that looks like a gun?. I'm going to Velcro mine to the shoulder strap of my camelback! May also great one of those springloaded telescopic weighty steel rods. I agree, we can't just surrender our stuff, what message does that send except to encourage it! That said a delicate balance, life over bike for sure! It just really sucks!

I was going to ride Black Hill yesterday as I've never ridden the new trails, despite helping to build them, but I heard about this and it completely put me off.

It feels so unfair to have the mountain and the space available for us to use, but to then be afraid to use it.

This is no way to live.

Had group of dodgy skollies walk past me while eyeing out my ride.

Skollie1- "mmm thats a nice expensive bike..."

Got me thinking I should remove the decals!

They never day that about my bike. Could I grab your decals? :P
