Khronis Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 (edited) I see the Garmin Forerunner 25 (large) is on a nice special at Takealot for R2200 (40% discount). From what I seen on reviews it seems to be a good value for money and with the special at Takealot it seems to be a bargain. Any other good alternatives or is the Forerunner 25 the best buy for the price bracket ? Will use it to record data and while running to monitor my pace, distance, HR. Its even cheaper today on their daily deals R1899 http://sport.takealot.com/sport-garmin-forerunner-25-black-blue-large/PLID41469979 Edited November 25, 2016 by Khronis

Perhaps I should rather spend more and buy the correct one from the start as the idea is to do the Comrades in 2018. Looking at the 230 or 235 at the moment. Edited November 25, 2016 by GemmerK@t

I'd avoid TomTom for now as they're still finding their fit a bit in the market (gps watches) from what I understand
Andrew Steer Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 I'm also considering parting with my Ambit Peak Sapphire to get a Fenix - there was a deal on the Sapphire Fenix last night that I sadly missed... just not sure I want to do the Fenix not in the sapphire version... decisions decisions

Looking at the 230 or 235 at the moment. if you gonna get a FR25 then buy a spare strap. I basically gave mine away the other day..still in good condition for about R400 because a new strap was R600 and mine was needing replacing. Battery life on the FR25 was at best 7 hours...I ran with 2 comrades using it as a stopwatch. I now have the FR230 which has a normal strap connection and will easily last for comrades
shaper Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 (edited) Maybe consider the 920XT http://www.clevertraining.com/garmin-forerunner-920xt-multisport-fitness-watch Up to 40 hours in UltraTrac mode; 24 hours in training mod; 4 months in watch mode. Ridiculously cheap even with shipping!! International Shipping Cost:Items ship worldwide for $29.99 for Standard Priority and $39.99 for Express Edited November 25, 2016 by shaper
Pieter1 Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 I reccon I'm going to stick to strava. The only thing I really want is the option to navigate and follow a route but I can't justify the price for that.
