Mudsimus Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Where you seeing a Fenix 3 deal? I'd avoid TomTom for now as they're still finding their fit a bit in the market (gps watches) from what I understandI ditched my Garmin when I got the TomTom, its a brilliant gps and very user friendly.
Andrew Steer Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 I ditched my Garmin when I got the TomTom, its a brilliant gps and very user friendly.GPS on Tom Tom is top notch... they are the dominant force in the world car market, but the rest of the package is a little behind from what I've seen and heard. Price point they are tops though - seriously competitive, but the aesthetics also put me off a bit. There is also them not being on Vitality that is an issue for me... but I am sure they will keep improving, it's a huge market and they definitely want their slice.

They are on Vitality, have been back for more than 2 month now. aesethitcally I think they are the better of the bunch. Price wise too but they are not made for the serious athlete or competitor. They are meant to keep track of your training and heart rate across multiple disciplines. I have been using TOMTOM for more than 2 years now, for my needs they are superb BUT... they do not have all the functionality of the high end kit costing much more (which I do not need) , the battery life with HR monitor on and GPS tracking is around 8 hours which is insufficient for Ironman. Its the only event I do that would need a watch with longer battery life however my solution is to use my wifes tomtom for the cycle leg. My b iggest issue with tomtom is that with the amount of activities I do including lots of swimming is that the watches don't seem to be as robust as they could be BUT TOMTOM have na excellent returns policy which I have used. not a bad lil watch at all, an if you buy only the runner version you can get a gps watch for under 2k... that's astounding. Hacc Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Does anyone know if the 2017 Running Calendar are out yet?Want to start planning my Races for next year. I have contacted the organizer of Tough One. They sent me last year's booklet that they hand out electronically. I created an Outlook Calendar import file from it. RAC told me today they will send me the 2017 spreadsheet asap. I will send you a link to the spreadsheet and Outlook ics file as soon as I have it. The Calendar import really helps to do your race planning. Apparently, Loskop is the weekend after Two Oceans I hope this is not true... As I already booked my accommodation for Loskop. I will keep you posted. PS. The spreadsheet contains the races for the whole year for all provinces. Lexx and shaper 2

Jackes Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 I realise it is perhaps a unfair question not knowing what the whole training programe looks like, but how good an idea is a 52km race 6 weeks before two oceans? The long runs being something like this...28/01/17 - 4225/02/17 - 5215/04/17 - 5604/06/17 - 87

The race calendar confirmed that Loskop is the weekend after Two Oceans Loskop is going to be a long tough race next year,
