Mojoman Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Started my training for the 2018 one....! Bit far away I know but as someone who has never really run I figure its best to go slow and steady for this. Reegan, Lexx, Beesrib and 2 others 5
Andrew Steer Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Oh, and I'm doing the Kaapsehoep marathon it seems... whole bunch from our club heading down. Should be very festive Lexx 1
Jackes Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Does anyone perhaps have the Old Mutual Ultra Marathon training plans, the 56km and the comrades ones? I see they don't have them on the website anymore, only up untill the 42km plans.
Jackes Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 One other thing. Does anybody run with Mizuno's here? More specifically "Wave Rider 19" Or know somebody, that knows somebody, that has feedback?
ScottCM Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 Morning all, how is the training going? I personally have battled with the cold these last few weeks and as a lazy result have bee shirt on my running. Cant wait for warmer weather. As for the training itself I am enjoying the structure of the Asics program and my niggles for the most part are gone which makes it so much more enjoyable. Jackes I see Lindsay Parry's full training program is on the comrades website if you haven't come right yet. Safe running all. Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk Ferret69 1

Thanks, will go have a look. Training is coming on slowly, but surely. Picking up the miles slowly and constantly. The ITB is holding off good too. Went to the orthopedist on recommendation and he recons my running style also creates my ITB. That and the "crap" Nikes I run with. Quickly became used to hearing how crap Nikes are this last few weeks.... That's why I have to choose now between the Mizuno Wave Rider 19, New Balance 880v6 and Brooks Glycerin 14. Although the brooks feel the most comfortable and a bit softer, they don't give me that warm feeling (Don't like the looks and price as well). That leaves the New Balance and Mizuno then I guess. The NB feeling the bit softer than the Mizuno, the more "stable" as well. It feels as if the Mizuno's make me supinate, I don't feel so stable on them, standing and walking, but they are the ones the orthopedist advises. Real confused. Lexx 1
Lexx Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Who else is running the Skukuza 21km this weekend?Training was going perfect until I started feeling Sick Yesterday.. Hopefully i'll be ok for the Skukuza Race. Ferret69 1

Real confused. just remember - all brands have "crap" versions. there are some very good nikes too. My answer is dont get too bogged down in shoes. Find out what you need and go for it. I pronate slightly so mainly use Asics GT2000...but also have a pair of cumulus neutrals. Finally...the only thing that causes ITB is a weak core and glutes. I picked up ITB after this years comrades because everything got stressed...but slowly building up strength again and its going away...same running style...same shoes...just a 6 weeks rest and some squats
