Stretch Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 I wonder what the cost to manufacture one of those normal foam rollers is... someone is making a killing...again...if only i had thought of it.. Just used mine now...im as sore as hell after 2 days of moving offices and having to pack, carry and unpack plentypluseleventyfive boxes and cabinets... feels like i just finished a crossfit stage race... Not what i had in mind just before my marafun on Sunday ja - my gaelic blood does not allow it when i know a pvc pipe works just as well! goog luck for sunday
ScottCM Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 Good Luck for Sunday SwissVan. Give us a good race report on monday. Is your wife running it too?
ScottCM Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 Dischem has nice teal and purple foam rollers for under R200 http://dischem.co.za/product-view/65066/sportmate-foam-roller-purple-46cm What is the diameter of the roller? At the bio they have one which is slightly softish which compared to the hard one i have is amazing as it allows you to roll for longer as you not hurting yourself from the get go. Even though the one at home is a 30cm in length and the one at the bio is 1m i find that more than the softness of it or even the length , the best determining factor of a successful roller is the diameter. The one at home is 100mm diameter and the one at the bio is at least 200mm, this gives you room to roll without your leg dragging on the floor which then makes you try and lift it off the ground, tensing the muscles which defeats to object of trying to roll them while being relaxed. but that's in my own limited experience.

I'll have to measure at home tonight, but I guess its about 150, it's not 200. This one also has a hard pipe inner and the 1.5-2cm softer outside.

ScottCM Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 (edited) With some guys on here opting to run shorter distances than Comrades, would you guys like the name of the thread to be changed? Maybe :1) Daily Runners2) Weekly Runners3) Runners who cycle from time to time4) Training & Competing in Running events5) any other suggestions???? I know there is a less active thread "Running sucks, but...." and the "Trail running" one but i think there should still be place for this thread on the bike hub. If you guys are happy however with the name we will leave it as is, i just don't want anyone who isn't doing the big C specifically to feel they are not welcome anymore.
