Agree, of all the energy drinks I've used so far, this is the best. It doesn't taste that good though, but works like a charm.

yep , it works - thats the most important aspect - the others taste so good becos they consist of sugar. if you avoid fizzy drinks as a rule then its actually amazing how much high energy coke can give you on a ride.

Ok, so there are a few threads dedicated to nutrition/weight loss/healthy living.

Most of them touch on the subject of the dangers of Sugar. But my search did not reveal a dedicated Sugar free thread.

As of today i have been sugar free for one month. It started as a challenge for the month of August, but I am really enjoying the benefits.

My whole family has gone sugar free....even the kids.

My son, aged 5, was on Ritalin for ADHD. We removed sugar completely and stopped his medication. We have not told his teacher. We recently had a 1 on 1 and she told us that he is performing very well and we must continue his medication. His OT said the same.

In both consultations we burst out laughing and explained what we had done. Both Teacher and OT were quite interested to know more and are very impressed with the results. it si still early days, but the signs are encouraging.

I have lost 4 kgs in the month and feel more alert than ever. My thought process seems clearer.

Is there anyone else on a similar journey?

Cool! Same here. Towards the end of July I decided (for no particular reason) to cut out sugar (except for low-sugar fruit e.g. pomelo and green apples) and limit my carb intake to a minimum. I changed to a diet where I only consume carbs in the morning (a bowl of oats) and for the rest I increased protein intake with a lots of veggies and a protein shake here and there. The results are really amazing – I actually have more energy now, gained muscle mass but dropped body fat. Endurance is better provided that I eat often. Works for me!

Just bear in mind that that is no better... it's essentially the same as normal fruit juice - laden with all the sugar in those fruit and veg, but none of the fibre.

You are right. We are not cutting out ALL sugars but refined sugars and unnecessary amounts of sugars. Sugars in natural and fresh foods are ok. It's a difference between a big glass of processed apple juice or a small glass (large shot glass) of a freshly juiced mix of things. And we are not (yet) hardcore enough to have pure beetroot and carrot juice ;). And then it goes as a supplement to a normal fibre rich meal.

So......

Can I look for a meal on the app that I want for dinner, it will then tell me what ingredients to buy. Then when I am home, load the recipe into the machine, it will then tell me what to add to it and when, then the meal pops out the other side?

At the risk of getting flamed,  demerit points (for a product punt) etc. I will answer.

You getting in deep here - will need to refer you to a Thermomix consultant (ask the wife that means).

I have to tell you I am a fan (i bought the first one) so I was already a big fan prior to this. But now I have a wife who , because of this, sells them.

Full disclosure therefore.

You cant roast, toast, bake and it doesn't replace an oven and you can't Grill steaks.

You need an oven.

Drumroll....

But the answer is yes.

I just had it shown to me.

I just had an idiots guide to how simple it makes things and how it talks you through the recipe.

This is the new one - TM 5 - which has a recipe on a chip. And touch screen.

You select supper, from recipes on the screen, it tells you ingredients to buy. (there are more cookbooks coming on chips - one for now)

You buy them, come home, follow step by step idiot proof instructions on the screen.

Supper is produced.

Quickly.

For 1 to 6.

It tells you if you for example need to heat oven to 200 C and how long the ingredients need to be in there.

Its pretty amazing.

FWIW: A lot of the people that really like it are the time depleted type folks where both husband and wife work. It really allows you to produce a meal in a bowl in a short space of time. There are literally thousands of recipes out there, from basic to complex. All over the web and on apps ( Robogourmet on Apple, Bigoven etc)

Like low/no sugar recipes( you see what I did there :-))

The things that I like is that you know what is in your food - which a lot of people care about these days as you control the ingredients. So you know what your kids are getting and you can make a healthy meal for 6 people in there, much quicker than normal.

I made a very good Risotto - which normally takes an hour, in 17 minutes. From first principles. So starting with raw ingredients I mean. Raw onions, stock Mushrooms etc.

And the other things it does is pretty amazing - if you are LCHF you make Yoghurt, Cauliflower Rice, Nut Butters (Blades can spin at 10k RPM to mill anything) your own Almond Flour

If you have a pressured and time urgent life its a great help.

After this the best way to see all this is through a demo - PM me if you are interested, I will unleash the Thermomixchick on you.

A thermie is something you really need to see in action.

I know its hard to beleive how one overpriced kitchen gadget can be so profound...but it is.

Its great if you want to know what you are eating and avoid mass produced chemicals and preservatives.

Its also chopped our grocery bill in two.

I see the value in convenience, but how does it save on groceries?

Yes...

Let me give an example.

If i want to make a pasta . Before i would buy a jar of sauce.

Now it is so quick and easy to make my own...i buy the fresh produce to make it.

Jar of sauce -R30 to 40 can use it twice.

Homemade sauce costs me 2 tomatoes, some salt pepper and basil.

this. I just make all my sauces in a big batch.

So once a month or every 2 weeks or so, I make a tomato based pasta sauce. Or if I don't have any, I just get a tomato or 2 and some garlic, basil and salt / pepper and chuck it in the pan with the rest of the ingredients.

This thread has inspired me and even though I don't use sugar in my coffee or drink fizzy drinks (except for Fever Tree tonic for my G&T) my wife and I both have a sweet tooth.

My wife has been away for a week and I have used the last few days to make a change as I find easier just to have to deal with my own cravings.

This morning, for the first time since they opened, I walked past the Toffee jar at Mike's bikes without taking some "Padkos".

I feel virtuous. Thanks for staring the thread WP.
