My wife and I try it every week. Come Saturday and we fail... Going to try and make September without sugar.

I've slowly started doing this. No more sugar in my coffee and / or tea, no sugar in my cooking unless it occurs naturally in the food itself (like the sugars in fruit and such) and I'm trying to cut out bread as much as possible.

I don't think I've made anything sugary in over 2 months. Even then I try to limit it as much as possible.

No sugar in sauces, no sugar in caramelized onions etc. Only sugar I'm thinking of using is in a recipe for bacon jam...

Yep...i have also been "limiting my carbs" but only because for some reason they make me bloat up like a decaying whale and i fart something terrible.

what is the reason you fail?

Not judging...i think thats pretty natural for most, but maybe we can help?

Same, been like that since I was a teen, so they have been off my list for some time now..

Well, very limited...

R-Man - slightly off topic, but in cutting out bread - what do you eat instead of mid-morning sarmies?

And is bread just bread or does it include stuff like... beskuit? (No english word comes close!)

Sorry OP, but it is semi-relevant... :whistling:

I miss bread! badly... fresh white bread with butter and some salt, or tuna mayo... mmmmmm

But you eventually get used to it, kinda..

Yoghurts, fruit, nuts....etc.

there's sugar in salt and water?

I looked at some biltong, sugar!!!!

Something like 78% of items on the shelves in shops have it... CRAY CRAY!

Personally, I fail due to not keeping with it. I start, and then 2 weeks later when it starts getting REALLY difficult, or I lapse in one meal, it all falls apart. I need to work on that. Blogging about it doesn't work that well. It works for the first week or 2, but for me that doesn't motivate the adherence.

My biggest motivational thing has been logging all my stuff to mapmyfitness, but even then it fell off the wagon.

I just need to get past that one step. Last time, for me, I managed to get down to 101kg (from 108 which is where i am at the moment) and then it all just fell apart again.

Suppose it comes down to laziness, in the end. Going for that pie in the bakery instead of a piece of chicken or an avo and some fruit, and not taking the time to actually concentrate on what I'm putting in.

I've started that road again, recently. Maybe this time, the "this time" will be for real. I just need to carry on.

But fresh, hot bread... OMG. I'm going to miss that. Will leave that for my weekly burger.
