Vetseun Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Just read on news 24.A cyclist was mowed down by a truck on the N2 near Shakaskraal today. The truck apparently drove over the cyclist.Paramedics spent 45 minutes trying to resuscitate the cyclist but he was later declared dead on the scene. Another cyclist sustained minor injuries and refused treatment on the scene.RIP

mrbaker Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Speculation as to the circumstances won't bring the cyclist back...RIP & condolences to the family. Guys- we all need to be vigilant as well as obey the rules of the road- we will come off second best in an accident.

See today it has been corrected to a more responsible and less sensationalistic version

See today it has been corrected to a more responsible and less sensationalistic version News 24 is hardly the pinnacle of top class journalism.... In fact, far from it! Aside from their obvious lack of journalists, they also seem to have no editors. Can't think of many stories they broke first, they just report second hand the majority of the time. Other than that, they can't spell for a damn and just push for the sensational despite getting facts totally wrong. Pretty pathetic really.

Created the impression that the truck had ploughed into cyclists. News 24 arent very good at all. Have you ever noticed the amount of spelling and grammar errors in the reports?
Stretch Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Comments in the article include eye witness accounts and details from of the riders in the group. They were on the R102 and the rider had an accident on a corner and slid under the truck. Truck driver was traumatised
tombeej Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 RIP to the cyclist. Terrible news, and my thoughts go out to the family left behind. But I have to ask, what the hell were they doing on the N2? Completely illegal.
