okay , so USN is the devils brew . Now what do you guys use when you race then ? And by race , I mean flat out 2 hour 95% heart rate xco race . I find it impossible to chew and swallow real food ( although I also believe real food is the best ) while bleeding through my eyes .

Its like anything else that cant be proven - your version of the truth against theirs and defend your turf with everything you have got. Thing is USN is a bit more aggressive with their marketing than others - but about 80% of any of these supplements are fancy sugars. Expensive, but nonetheless sugar...

I always find that the bubbles make me sneeze.

No bubbles. ... add water after coke and all the gas will go out.

Oh yes and i ride with biltong on my longer rides. Not so easy to eat but works very well

If the good doctor is telling the truth and is presenting facts then calling the complainant a liar isn't going to lose him the case because he is doing so in the public interest. So unless the complainant has tjommies in the anc I can't see the case as winnable.

Either way won't touch the stuff

Eat something at the start, lately I like peanut brittle. Then whatever sugary stuff you put in your bottles, caffeine gels the last half hour seem to work very well.

In the longer races my son makes rice cakes for me, same as most of the pro teams use, they work very well and are easy to make. They are not too cheap though, if you start adding nuts and cherries to make a "calorie bomb" as he calls it.

He'll get a retraction and possibly costs. Edit: But I think that'd come with an admonition for the language used. Proving reputational damage is a fun topic. The plaintiff would have to prove the extent of damage that has been done. There are those who believe defamation itself gets a bad wrap. A journalist's job involves a lot of defaming by its very nature. The subjects of news stories are often those who occupy positions of status, but often are of character that doesn't merit such office. Therefore, publishing a story satisfies the intent test, but not necessarily the degree of malice. Then you get the question of fair comment...well...

Thing is, as I understand it, USN will first have to prove that what was written in the article is inaccurate/false information. If it is factually accurate it can't be defamation.
