V12man Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I have a Cotic issue at the moment. Recently I noticed that the clearance between the rear tyre and the left chainstay (non drive side) is a lot smaller than the clearance on the right (drive side). Roughly about 4-6mm. The tyre is not rubbing against the frame (except if it gets muddy) and the inside clearance between the dropouts is 135mm on the dot. Dropouts are also in line. I would like to know if this is just on my bike?Anywhere I can take it that can do cold setting maybe? - Frame is out of warranty. Or should I just leave it?Take the wheel to Anton at Summit cycles in midrand and ask him to check the dishing - and if it's wrong, to fix it - it's far more likely to be the wheel than the frame.
The expat cyclist Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 To answer all the questions:1. Solaris - 2013 frame2. I had the wheel checked for the dish and it was fine. However, the tyre was still on so I shall do it properly with the tyre off. Would really be disappointed if it is the wheel. I'll keep you posted.
The expat cyclist Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Ok so the wheel is fine...I think.Basic check was this: Took the casette off and put the wheel in the wrong way round. The gap between the tyre and the drive side was the same as before, ergo dish of wheel is fine.I need to take pictures of the gaps but what is a normal gap aon a cotic solaris with 2.25 tyres?

I have a narrow 2.0 WTB on the back, but it seems pretty well centered.
V12man Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 This could be the reason...Oops.... time to call Matt.... that definitely looks wrong

My old hard tail was tough on the derriere Bike is still a work in progress Dropping the FD and going 1 by with a Sunrace wide range casssette Half upgraded the brakes. Front already done with Sram Guide RS. Running Maxxis High Roller 2 on the front (fantastic tyre) and Maxxis Ardent on the back (not so fantastic tyre).
