Sitting slip Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Hi guys, So I want to ride to Cape Town back road. Seems cheaper than the car and bit more fun. Pack a tent and credit card and some future life pap. Guys know of any routes?

DJR Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 The long way down (mountain bike specific) - Ride the dragons spine as said before. The straightest way down - Get to Kimberley the best you can (I don't know the back roads from Pretoria to Kimberley, sorry.) Then go Douglas, Prieska, Carnavon, Fraserburg, Sutherland, Ceres, Wellington, Philadelphia, Melkbos, Cape Town. Almost entirely on back roads, some tar and some dirt, but all on public roads, so no access issues. Mountain bike or touring bike. The fastest way down - Ride along the dreaded N1, busy as hell especially with heavy trucks. Road bike or touring bike.
