well done, you have really added to the conversation.  Please pat yourself on the back, and congratulate yourself for a job well done.  I'm sure everyone thinks your contribution is worthy of praise and celebration.

R50... still bloody great "value" in my books. Both parks have a lot to offer the cycling community

Interesting fact: 99.9999% of people who bitch about trails have never built or maintained one in their life

Wendell, your trails are greatly appreciated! I know you wish you had a bit more control of things are Rietvlei, but it's still an important step for most towards riding at Thaba.

Great trails, built with passion - charge what needs to be charged to keep them that way

Like they say in the classics, build it and they will come.

I am grateful for every single trail builder that has the passion for this...lets face it, you wont make millions doing it...its for the love. These guys are also just playing the cards they are dealt...terrain, upkeep, land access, catering for different levels...they are really trying their best and get it right almost every single time.

40% increase?... why is that a problem if there has been no increase for the last 4 years?

that is a 10% increase per year. I don't see any fault with that.

R50 is still very reasonable and buying a ticket  will save you R20 per ride, so catch a wake-up here and buy a ticket!!

Very true!

For a large part, it's a thankless job.

I look at the Spruit, Free to any user. A few of the riders invest time and money in the upkeep of the trails or building new features. But the majority of the comments on their work are of a negative nature. "Too dangerous" this... or "they should rather have" that. Not many people willing to put their spade where their mouth is.

Then there's a special place in hades for those that purposely destroy features that others built just because they don't suit that individual's technical ability

So yeah, I for one would not like to maintain and operate a bike park. Even at R50/patron.

Presies patches

Its almost like a sense of entitlement....how do the okes think the little bridges and passes get there...probably fairies

Make em gaps I say...

I was not going to say anything or reply to corriekuilder.......I appreciate the fact that you have the time to post here....I just want to bring you up to date... Firstly we have not had a price increase for four years...if not longer. However our rent has gone up each year..our wages have gone up each year....petrol goes up and down like a yoyo.....if you speak to any park owner you'll see the passion in his eyes and this is what drives us...we have been working on the safety aspect for some time and we have transponders on order for GPS location in an emergency....We haven't had the freedom of the park for some time now and we are not allowed to build new sections as we share the park with horses, dogs, walkers and runners. The feeling I have after reading this is to throw in the towel for the trails at Rietvlei..give it to our landlord and I may have peace in my life...just my feelings and it's not a "pity party" as some of my so called friends would say but a feeling of "it's time to move on"

Please don't let one or two people spoil it for the rest of us, unless you want to devote all your time and energy at Thaba, which is also okay but not as nice as having two bike parks so close to each other (and close to home too).

I am no MTBer and I have never ridden Rietvlei, but I will make a point of going there a few times in the next few weeks as I believe R50 for a day out on your bike is a BARGAIN!!

Wendell, please PM me your number, I will text you when I come and if you are around, please let me buy you a beer for your contribution to cycling.

Then who is that patchelicious guy posting on the Dr Evil and Karoo2Coast threads...

An impostor that seems to like the occasional dirt track ;)

Dr Evil, company tradition, K2C is about as roadie as you can get riding a broomstick bike :P

R50 is bloody nothing to spend as long as you want riding!!!

What the hell else can you do for R50.....sorry but I detest people who moan about such a trivial amount of money for all the effort that goes into trails and maintenance.

Long live the trail builders, prices are completely fair in my view.

Hahaha, that's cos you don't live in the big smoke. You are more fortunate than most.

PS. Rather spend your R50 fixing those holes in the Mozambique border fence
