So those how are aiming for sub 3, how does your training looks like for the rest of the week?

I had good hard training sessions this past weekend.

Rest yesterday

This morning I had a lekker easy spin session on my roller in front of the TV.

Not sure what to do tomorrow morning, and on Thursday we leaving

I had a tough 3 weeks which included the R4S. According to my coach this week is about rest of which lots of sleep is important. This will be a challenge for me since I suffer from insomnia.

Sunday, Monday and today is rest.

tomorrow is easy spin in Rec zone for 1H

Thursday is LSD for 1H, with 5x1 min @ max efforts

Friday is rest and Saturday is the easy breakfast ride from Greenpoint to top of Suikerbossie and back, with a nice brekkie at Kampsbay.

Sunday is a 2h59 (nothing more) all out effort.

Back on the 2nd lap topic, is the road closed when you cross the timing matt or can you just keep on riding straight back to the start without going through the medal/coke line?

It looks like he/his group raced really well doing the 2nd half quicker. His time from top of suikerbossie to the finish is fast. If you hit top of suikerbossie much more than 2h40m I don't think you will make it. Unless you in a well organised group that doesn't stuff around. So 5 min at the most for Chappies and suikerbossie. If you hit Edinburgh drive in 30 min I'm not sure you can pull it back.

2014 we had a wind from the south that picked up later - so first half we were way behind the "official" time splits and second half it was "Eye of the Tiger" stuff when we were way faster

(That is why I insist time splits are useless - just stick with your group, majority of us cannot TT ourselves to a sub 3)

Exception maybe for when you need to be on top of Suikerbossie, 2014 I crested Suikerbossie at 2h36m, made a sub 3 with 4 seconds to spare averaging 40km/h for the last 16km (with the help of a nice tailwind). So I think if you get to the top at 2h40 you probably have too much to catch up unless you are in a big / fast group.

bear in mind that the 10am second lap start cut off is there to help you ensure you get to the various points on the course before the road closures are lifted

Dont  over think this to much dude.

Remember that it wont be that hectically packed at the end as you are starting in the early groups. Also the transition back to the start shouldn't take you more than 15mins and that includes stops at the traffic lights.

Then of coz you just have to get into a start chute which could take lots of time as those back groups are quite big and no one is in a real rush like you would be

Stops at the traffic lights? Apparently us cyclist don't do that. Well that's according to majority of motorists.

What you mean, A bloke on a Bianchi rolled straight passed me this morning in Lakeside. He just rolled through the red like it wasn't there. Mom with her tot had to brake to save this idiots life and when she hooted he gave her the zap.

When I caught up to him and asked if he thought his behaviour was what he expects other to deliver to him, he gave me the zap and tried to switch me off my bike into traffic coming up behind and then hurled abuse. Clearly not lekker in the head!

I'll remember your face POS

Also one oke this morning in aurora , went to drop my tot at playschool and this kitted out wannabe came flying over the stop street at about 40km/h, with me braking and bags all over the place he just shows me the finger...

Where do all these idjuts come from? I am actually quite edgy about the whole thing and wouldnt mind unloading some of my frustrations on a moron like that.

The worst for me is wankers riding on the national road.

After saturdays mountain bike race on my way back on the n1 some douchebag is riding on the N1 on his own past Kraaifontein.

On sunday coming home from my ride in Camps Bay, there was a whole group of cyclists on the N1 all kitted out. Just because you're riding as a team, its still illegal to ride on the N1. The worst thing is I rode with those same guys down Suikerbossie into Camps Bay and then into Greenpoint. I cant remember the name of team but their kit looked similar to the Trek Factory racing kit. It was clearly styled on that.

And then if that's not enough, yesterday while in the UCT Lung Institute building, I saw two wankers riding down hospital bend on their own. What the actual ****? its douches like these that give cyclists a bad reputation.
