'Dale Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Okay.. I have arrived at the guesthouse I will be staying at this week.. way out of town hardly any reception.. so I will be the nut walking around this place trying to live stream.. wonder if I can find a pub in Kroonstad that will show the cycling ????Yikes ????
GrumpyOldGuy Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I must say I feel for RP. Nearly 2 mins down after 2 days.Really bad luck for him, and I don't see he has any way of marking the big boys now. Unless they all have some really bad luck of course.Yah, its bad luck he punctured but its bad planning that there was no team mate around him who could have loaned him a bike.? Thats what happens when you have too many riders in the team to look after, the team cant look after Porte, Van Garderen and try and get Van Avermaet into a position to take the stage, so Porte punctured and now he is on the back-foot because there was no one to assist, BMC need to make a decision and follow that, you cant be everything to everyone everyday.
Gen Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Yikes ????Ja if it wasn't a TDF week I would be very happy to be stuck on a farm guesthouse far from any distractions.. BUT it is TDF and I am off to 1.. find my kids and drop off pillows that they forgot and 2.. find better signal.

My mom must have missed that gene, cause she would have said sleep on your towel or make a plan......
GrumpyOldGuy Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 We will see if Contador can come back and if Porte can get some time back. At the moment it looks like a Froome Quintana showdown is looming. Much can still happen.Yah, neither have an all hope gone tour losing gap, but if all goes well with Froome and Quintana it could be difficult. In my opinion they need to chip at it everyday if they can, waiting till a mountain stage or hoping they get lucky wont cut it,..... that was always Gilberto Simoni's downfall, he tried to gain back any time he lost in the mountains and waited till then,...... sadly, usually he ran out of time and road,.... actually LA was the master at chipping away at time differences, he made an effort every day to take back time and it usually worked out well for him.
Gen Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 , you drop pillows off for the kids in the middle of a farm ? My mom must have missed that gene, cause she would have said sleep on your towel or make a plan......Lol Not quite.. the kids are here on hockey tour but they rode on the bus and we forgot the pillows this morning..and they are staying somewhere else. (In town I am out staying out of town - who knew accommodation would be so hard to find) I as always gping to come through to support the kids for the week.. it's the "baby's" first sports tour and mom wanted to document it.. P $SS poor planning on my part considering it's TDF.

In a perfect world, yes, they're screwed but stranger things have happened "in the professional sport of cycling" as Paul would put it. There are still lots of road left and crosswinds, crashes or just sheer luck always have a say. I doubt Contador would do much chipping in the next couple of days, just surviving. Hope he heals up soon though. He's a smart bike racer and will make things interesting even before the high mountains. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk

Wannabe Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Did you guys notice the wound on his left shoulder was seeping / oozing blood, when he came over the line?
bertusras Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Do you okes watching on SuperSport think that Marriott only made one advert for all three weeks of TdF?
Cav' Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Fixed Schleck's misfortune occurred just after he had launched what he obviously hoped would be the attack to increase his 31sec lead over Contador by a significant margin, thus weatherproofing him against his expected losses in Saturday's time trial. The chain came off when Contador was about 20m behind, and the Spaniard's claim that he was unaware that anything was wrong with Schleck did not have the ring of truth, not least because in the process he also overtook his own team-mate, Alexandre Vinokourov, who certainly knew what was happening. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2010/jul/20/albert-contador-tour-de-franceYou really do like AC f o k k o lHey Scotty? In the spirit of equality, it's ok. Because I hate Froome's guts.

The Mrs is asking who we have little spare money in the piggy bank........ I just smile and say Taxi fare *hopes she doesnt read this*

If Froome had two crashes, he would've been in Monaco already.
