Dont worry too much unless you are a heavyweight - rara and roro snakeskins are fine - if you are big then maybe there are better choices.

Lol, I am on the heavier side! Got the wider Nobby nic up front and the 2.25 racing Ralph at the rear. Plenty of time to test I guess.

YTD average = 5 hours

Last 4 weeks = 9 hours

My training only started 2 weeks ago. Only averaging 9hrs per week on Z2/3 stuff but have climbed almost 6000m in this period.

I planning on doing most of my training uphill.... Spare a thought :(

What tyre combo are you guys planning on?

I am planning on running RR Snake skin on the back, thinking of a Nobby Nic on the front but havent decided yet?

I'm still deciding between RR snake skin front and back or Conti X King.

Have used both and like both. Currently have RR on my bike...

I ran Conti Race king protection rear and X king protection front, not even one flat the whole race, still have the same set on the bike actually, they do look like they have been through Vietnam and back though

Did your Conti's get the funny weepy damp look along the sidewalls?

I had two sets that did, which alarmed my, hence I'm back on RR for now.

I do think you correct in saying the Conti's are strong as hell....

How about drive trains?

I'm going XX1 but with a 30 up front. I'm certainly not a mountain goat...

Normally ride a 32.

Rode with a 32 this year, regrets, getting a 30 for me2

Coming over from Aus for my second epic. I train all year round so been averaging about 15hrs a week for the last few months (well to be fair a lot of that is just commuting). Going to bump it up to 20hrs, maybe nudge a few 25hr weeks.

I used Bontrager XR3 team issue - great tyres, not the fastest but tough and versatile.

Xo1 drivetrain

With 32 on the chainset and 34 in the bag. 32 gives me similar gearing to 29er guys with 30 chainring and 34 gives similarly to 32 on a 29er.
