read  a little further..........and listen carefully

The safety and performance of the tyres is unaffected by this apparent premature perishing but there is little doubt that the lower the tyre pressure, the higher the rate of wear and tear and the shorter the usable life of the tyre will be. Recommendations from the R&D technicians at Conti is that cyclists in our terrain conditions should inflate their tyres to around 2.4 bars as a starting point.

If you’ve got used to running at sub 1.7 bars pressures, then the initial feeling at 2.4 bars is that bike control has been negatively affected. There is, in fact, very little loss of control and with a bit of perseverance you will automatically adjust to the different handling characteristics of higher tyre pressures. Now some fine tuning can be implemented and the best way to find the pressure that best suits your riding style is to experiment on a circuit you know well.

No need to quote it again, I read the entire thing. What is your point?

Point that they speak the truth. None of the MTB tyres are designed to be run at the pressures we run them at in SA. Conti's work well at 2.0-2.4 bar for a 80Kg rider. Never had a problem with their mtb tyres in this range.

all other tyres also suffer the wear and tear at low pressures. It just might not manifest itself as it does in the Conti

Has anyone given any thought to the Official Tyre sponsor of the Epic: C

Mitas Rubina Textra Tyres were very well received during the 2015 event where they made their debut. Check out their facebook page for some more info and to see what else they have been up to.

The end of another week and a weekend of riding ahead of us.

What are the training plans for the weekend and how did the training go this week?

Anyone doing W2W as a training block?

I had a horrible week. Only 4 hours so far! Long ride coming up tomorrow....

4 hours is plenty if it is focused training.

I will offer to test some out if they give them to me..... but - in line with many other things - nothing in the race gets used that is not tested properly first....

I had to run this morning after pinch flatting mistiming a curb jump.... and making at least one more error with the second bomb....

Lesson entrenched - ride with spares.... :)

Their website is not easy to navigate. Which combo from Mitas would be suitable for the epic.

What are the specs and weights?
