Come join us at voortrekker for some of the provincial action, pretty easy track technical wise so good way to ease into the scene.

Next national is in Bloem on 18th June,

Definitely not "only professional" as the age catergories start from 9 years old all the way through to 60 + years

I nearly died on Saturday. Was my first XCO in 15 years. The start was so hard and fast I only got my breath back on lap 3. Leader pulled a 13min gap on me in 20km .

But it was awesome fun. Will definitely be back again........and better prepared.

Looks Rad.

On a side note: XCO needs some serious attention here in SA. The format is somewhat unheard of and when it is, it's usually associated with a "professional only" stigma.

C'mon, that looks like some serious fun to be had for the general rider who wants some more challenging riding than marathon, but without going full #enduro. Also, SA could do with some XCO medals.

Agreed - but i would change one thing ... "serious fun to be had" needs to be changed to "serious *** off" .... hahahaha

Its hard racing, but its amazing as the lap format works so well that there are always spectators and its also tight racing. But be prepared to die a fast death for your first couple as the pace is WAY higher than in Marathon. Its full on. And a fantastic way to build your skills and race your mates at the same time

was thinking that the format of just a single day race could be improved upon at Olympics.

2 days before the race they should have a seeding lap. you go out according to UCI rankings, and fastest dudes get to start in the front. would allow someone to actually compete from the back - which is really what the olympics are about.

Provincial or regional? .... CGC also working on a series at Thaba, nice spread of venues in Gauteng for XCO events. It's an absolute jol.

Interesting thought that...like the qualifiers for the swimming and the sprints.

CGC needs to sort themselves out. they have cancelled the first 2 events (within a few days fo the actual event) so not sure (or confident) that they will actually be able to host a proper series before the end of the season.

Yip at the monument, the tracks are low tech skill (for xco level) but are great for a guy looking to join in on the fun.

the final event should have a decent level of tech sections that will be challenging and hopefully closer to a national level course.

So what you saying is allow short course into the race format for seeding purposes
