Heavy breathing and brakes squealing.......works for me

what works for me.... when you are behind a rider, lock the back wheel and make it sound like you're coming in really fast.  :whistling:

It's amazing how in a 2+ hour marathon race riders will block you in singletrack to "protect" their position. While in a 3 minute Enduro stage where every second counts, slower riders will happily get out of your way in singletrack and cheer you on as they do so, making sure that they don't spoil your run.

All the roadies messing things up for mountain bikers...

Freakin dirt roadies ...

Problem is you need practice on single track and technical stuff, at least once every couple of weeks otherwise you just lose all confidence again.

it's a lot more time consuming to get fit than it is to get skills, so the average weekend warrior should have better skills than fitness.

in other words, the technically slow, but fit people, have no excuse for their lack of skills.

my gripe is the lack of etiquette, no one calls anymore. It is so frustrating. At the berg and bush I ended up shoving a fellow rider off the single track because he never called and attempted to overtake me in an inappropriate spot. I ended up turning directly into him because of the line I had chosen. He ended up having quite a big crash. I on the other hand was fine.

He blamed me and had a few choice words. After ensuring that he was fine I rode on. He was apparently looking for me at the end to give me a piece of his mind. I am not a big guy and he wasn't small.

This never used to happen 8 or so years ago.

I am not slow in the tech stuff but yes people do catch me. I always wait for them to call and I hold my line. if I see a gap I call back and tell them I will slow down so as to allow the overtake.

I think that we all need to just breathe in for a second and remember why we love this sport.

If you are in H batch you are not going to win a trophy. you can wait for a few seconds until it is safe to overtake. Call before you do.

Just nudge their back wheel a couple times trimming their tread and see if they get the idea?

That would reduce rolling resistance, helping them be even faster on the next climb, to irritate the OP by getting ahead of him before the next singletrack...

The worst part for me is when riders don't care about safety and will push you off the single track just to get past just to finish 2-3 minutes ahead of you. Well done dude..

The chances are that if you permanently get stuck in single tracks then your not working hard enough to get a better seeding.

I started this year and most probably held up a few guys due to fitness level but always moved over once it was safe for me. Now I am going strong and enjoying the ride as I am in the correct seeding group.

Problem is all they ride is dirt roads, week in week out can't learn skills there.

Improving seeding is the only way around this issue, once in A group most of these problems vanish.
