Question for Kiwi's - have you applied for passports through SA Consulate in Wellington, and if so how long did it take?

I see Wayne's post saying they say it will be 12 months - is that the case in actuality?

We've finally got our residence application together, plus new, valid police clearances from SA and the UK (been 3 frkn sets of each on this journey), ask 20 y.o who's just come back from U.K. for her passport - no, she's lost it...     :cursing:  :cursing:  :cursing:  :cursing:

pm me your email address.

When I contacted the consulate a while ago it took me a while but I eventually landed on the desk of a very nice lady that was really helpful. She gave me her email address and direct number.

More than happy to send it to you and you can call her and see if there are any other options like emergency passports and so on.

She is the one that told me 6-12 months.

Thanks Wayne.

Yip, 6-12 months.

We did Layla's birth registration through there too and wew told the same time. Silly us, we didn't apply for her SA passport the same time because we thought "ah well she already have a French and kiwi passport in hand and with those she can travel the world without visa, to save us money, time andf effort now but mostly in 5 years also when we need to replace them all we didn't apply for the passport"....

Only for me to realise a while later she may not enter SA on one of her other passports!! Eish. I'll have to apply now, we want to go to SA in a year.

Hey guys. I'm heading to NZ for a mate of mine's wedding in March, and then I have around 3 weeks of holiday in NZ before flying back to SA. Gonna be on my own though (but I'm cool with that)  The wedding is near Auckland, so that's where I'm flying to and from, but I'm not opposed to travelling a bit while I'm there. What do you guys reckon is the best use of my time there?

I'm also wondering if it's worthwhile taking a bike with me for transport, and also maybe some bike packing. Any advice?

If you have 3 weeks do bring a bike, will be well worth it. March is still quite lekker here (we've been having the most epic summer, haven't seen a drop of rain in months, long hot days every day). Make sure to go to Rotorua and the Redwoods. Forget about seeing the South Island, 3 weeks is barely enough to touch the north, and SI is like another country (unless you want to go there specifically for a day or 3). Also try get up to Bay of Islands its pretty cool there, make sure to take a boat trip.

Travel safe and have fun.

Intern, what are equal opportunity policies like in NZ?

Not quite sure what you mean - white men are a hunted species like everywhere else, with lots of feminism going on around why aren't women CEOs and why is there a gender pay gap (answer: there isn't) and some jobs are reserved for Maori if not de jure then certainly de facto, but all in all, if you are competent and hard working, you'll find work in your field pretty readily...

Mind you take all of this from whence it comes, a self-employed layabout who works mostly with women in a female-dominated industry...

Crankworx Rotorua!

Damn. Time flies...

Oh man, doesn't it. Can't understand how she is growing so fast!?

She's so strong, started crawling 2 days after turning 7 months, she follows me all around the house. She (7.5month today) can pull herself up standing already.

I saw this trike - bike and want to buy her it. Papa said it can be her 1st birthday gift. Only thing is I think she will walk before turning 1 and hence I can not wait to buy her that till then...

Looks good!

You know how easy it is to spend money on bike stuff, well it is even easier to spend on your kids. And the excuse is so easy, sorry honey, but I spend our money on the kids, it's not for me.[emoji16]
