This is how my LBS ruined my weekend !

On Saturday at 12:15 I added new sealant to my SS back tyre and then realised  that the reason it won’t hold air is because the rim tape must be faulty, so I rushed off to my LBS to buy a roll of tape and some more sealant so I could sort it out on Saturday afternoon.

I got there at 12:45. Now I know that this is close to closing time on the day before the 94.7, but I was stunned at the service I got.

Instead of just selling me the stuff, Ryan took my wheel, saved the new sealant, removed the dried gunky sealant in the tyre, removed the old tape, spent 10 minutes meticulously cleaning the rim with rubbing alcohol, wrapped 2 layers of tape, replaced the saved sealant, replaced the tyre and then wiped the wheel down before spraying it with some magic muti  and cleaning it thoroughly. BY NOW IT WAS BEYOND CLOSING TIME !

All this for the price of a couple of metres of rim tape, when they could have sold me a roll and a bottle of Stans.

The audacity, to think that I needed to save the money and have half an hour of my Saturday afternoon to myself  !

I was so outraged that I bought myself a case of  beer and drank half of it. I will take the second dozen to Mike’s Bikes and let them find out how it feels to  ride a long way in the heat and wind with a head ache the following morning. :whistling: :whistling:  :whistling:  :whistling:  :whistling:

 And that is why I support them !

Nice to here this. People are always very quick to make a big deal if something goes wrong, but don't even think twice about saying something good.

Thanks for changing the tone a bit.

Sounds like you bought them beer before.........?

Just kidding............awesome story and well written. I echo the sentiments at the top, thanks for changing the tune and perspective.

I firmly believe you get what you are.......you obviously treat others well hence the treatment you get.

Thanks for a fresh view.

You need to teach this cheeky dude a lesson, pronto! Forget the beer, two bottles merlot will leave him with a headache he won't soon forget.

Oh dear God eddy, that must have been awful, you might want to consider some trauma counselling!

Ask him about his chain tensioner.... :)

HOWEVER - I know for a fact he DID visit a trauma councellor on Saturday afternoon... briefly.... very briefly.....

I have, but as a thank you afterwards, not an upfront bribe to try and get something for nothing.

I always wonder about the "I have been ripped off by every bike shop I have ever used; they are all a bunch of rude dicks " types who post here.

I have never experienced it from people like Anton B, Grant U or Mike B, and they are some of the grumpiest guys in town

Ask him about his chain tensioner....

If eddy and his chain are suffering from a bit of tension after the incident, then the best remedy I can suggest is to get them both well oiled!
