I shall therefore pack more beers for post race nutrition and arrive at the Oyster bar at GB harbour in good Spirit. Klapmuts seems like a "it-was-also-there-somewhere" bump?

Don't underestimate this little bump. You do it at your own peril.

Thanks for the warning. Being my 1st I need all the inside info. (I also need mercy from above and the wind from behind).

Lose the bunch there on that kicker just after Klapmuts and it could set you back 10 minutes in the teeth of the South Easter

Hi all, 1st time riding as well. Will be coming down from Jozi so any suggestions on the best place to stay?

Would suggest something in Stellies if you want to ride to and from the start and finish. If the family are along and you've got a rental car perhaps check out something in Strand close to the beach.

Stellenbosch:

Strand:

(Hopefully someone with a direct contact for a discount to somewhere specific with a winning recommendation replies too, so these will be a useful backup and suggestion at what is available out there in the meantime!)

Thanks so much, this will be helpful. If all else fails, I'll just book into the protea hotal in Stellenbosch.

Any idea when the seeding is out? AFAIK, it takes PPA into account but is independent

im assuming that you will only receive seeding at registration

Wednesday. They replied to a question asked on FB.

Hi guys, question regarding the calculation of seeding. Are only certain races taken into account or do they take the PPA group you are eligable for also into account? Reason im asking is because I only took part in the PPA hillclimb challenge this season and got bumped up to B so wondering if I would start in a similar group for this race.

If it is in your PPA seeding index it will count.

Edit - Given that there are seemingly much more people seeded A & B you might find yourself a bit lower down but last year a B seeding was good enough to get you into Starting group %

I agree. From Klapmuts if you are running low on energy, you going to get hurt bad.  As you past Klapmust, you'll most probably have a headwind to contend with, then its slightly uphill (which is one of those, "I-don't-know-why-this-road-hurt-so-much"-sections).  The hill is not to bad, but will hurt tired legs, especially if you lose touch with your group on that previous bit.  Then its flying downhill until you get Krommehree-hill - its short, but lekker steep and will punish tired legs.  Last year I cramped so badly on this one, I almost crashed.  Bugger.

Looking forward to my first road race in years and my first Stellenbosch cycle tour, riding Origin of trails on Friday and Saturday then the cycle tour on Sunday.
