What app is the best to use as my cycling GPS?

I currently use Strava with a paired HR sensor, hoever its not on for display, just in my pocket with voice prompts on my distance etc ( which is a bit of a hit / miss)

I use a iphone 6s so battery life is ok. But would love a app that only lights up when I want it too say every km or when HR goes over a certain bpm so I save the battery.

I want to hold back on getting a dedicated GPS again as im gona try the free apple watch from discovery and then wait and see what the 520 is in for in terms of price drops and upgrades later in 2016.

So in actual fact what you are saying is you want a Ferrari but you only have R100k and it must be as light on fuel as a 1.4 Polo vivo :whistling:

Only kidding but I think your best bet right now is to wait for the apple watch or get a garmin.

Not sure if any of the others apps on your iPhone will give what you close to what you want.

Strava is great but not that as customizable to meet your needs though but perhaps someone knows of another app that might meet your needs or close to it at least.

Dude, Just ride you bike and have a jol doing it. When you have the amo in you back burner to spare get yourself a dedicated device that does everything you require and more.

I've been using Cyclemeter for 3 years.  Love it and it posts to Facebook and emails you your ride data at the end of every ride.  Get yourself a Quadlock case and it clips on your handlebars so easy to check as and when you want.

I agree with Small Fry.....ever since I ride without any GPS device, I enjoy my cycling more....ride harder and stronger!!!

Only problem is when it is race day I want to know how many km's is left.

Had a Edge 520 for one day and took it back.....not such a great device, I prefer the touch screen to scroll through data field than pressing a button while riding.

Go big or go home!!!! Get the Edge 810 or Edge 1000

I used to use this app religiously .... exports to Strava as well. It's free and has the functionality you are looking for. If you have a bluetooth HR monitor it'll work like a charm...also, you can tune your tunes from it as well.

Add this and you have a great setup, goois lekker incoming call alerts as well (you know, so you can ignore them cause you're on the bike):
